Session 3: Beyond the Witchlight

We’re at the ruins where we found the balloon.



Three snakes with human faces race up to us.
 
Korashana fails to make the snakes sleep. Missed longsword attack.
 
HDYWTDT #1 (Cirian got all 3 HDYWTDT. Cirian, the Snake Slayer!)
 
Andra meets a goblin who's trying to hide. She has a ton of keys hanging around her throat.
 
Korashana hits! 11 dmg +3 psychic. Misses next attack. Flies upward.
 
Goblin’s name is Jingle (think about Winky from HP). Droopy ears, large eyes, keys around neck.
 
Korashana catches up to the goblin. Offers sweets in exchange for helping cut parts of the balloon.
 
Seems like the water has only come to the town recently (swampy area nearby tower)
 
Keaton finds the pouch around the first one's neck. It looks like there is nothing inside of it. Turning it over and shaking it, a number of items fall out
2 potion bottles: identical (cloudy green fluid - it’s water breathing), coin: 84 gp,
 
Andra sees a body. Individual who perished in the crash. She sees a potion (that appears to be empty but has the weight of liquid - it’s invisibility) and a feather token on the frog creature’s body.
 
Jingle makes the fabric into a poncho. Running around but makes no noise. She has boots, gloves, and a ring. All things she looted
 
Jingle offers a trade with Andra. Jingle gives, Andra takes.
 
We take a short rest while Jingle unlocks Sir Talivar.
 
Cirian tells Sir Talivar what happened to his friend Wigglewog.
 
We give Wigglewog a water burial.
 
Sir Talivar tells us about how the lands have changed. Part of why there’s so much water. One member of the coven has taken up residence here, Bavlorna Blightstraw. Taken over this domain as her own (at least her portion of it). Kept captive at least a 10-day. He had a talisman (golden amulet on a velvet cord) that allowed him to travel back to Tatanya(?)’s land.
 
Sir Talivar tries to go back to his home. Going to the Inn at the end of the road.
 
Tsu Harabax - Loyal to Zylbinia
 
The heringone have some affiliation to her.
Longscarf - in return for a portion of his gains, the witch-queen allows him to operate with immunity.
 
“I’m not entirely sure where we are.” The queensway (bridge) was destroyed.
 
Sir Tavilar calls this land, “Hither” - either Zylbina is unaware or something has happened to her.
 
Appears the coven has separated to land into H, T, and Y. The other witches did not appear during his incarceration. They need the power of all three to control Zylbina.
 
His mistress reigns over the Seelie court. (He does not know who Endelyn Moongrave is)
 
We notice a drain sound & the water level drops.
 
See docks built into the dock, wet on top, some were submerged.
 
Her friend, Blue, will like this.
 
We hear the sounds of the singing but most West and start to see the shadow of the ruins. We come to the bottom columns of the bridge.
 
Sir Talivar orients himself. He joins us by the bottom of the bridge. Keaton finds a route for us to take through the swamps.
 
I notice that the draining sound has stopped. I hear bloop bloop bloop instead and see 12-ish orbs of light orbiting each other.
 
We move towards the sounds & lights.
 
The lights are circling a well. - There’s no cap & water is pouring out of it.
 
Cirian and Keaton hear the orbs laughing. They seem intrigued by our approach and come closer to the party.
 
They are excited by Keaton and are orbiting/inspecting him now. Cirian asks if they are playing again, they orbit him, too. They don’t like the water coming out of the well.
 
The orbs lead Keaton to a massive trunk. Keaton and Andra make their way up the boughs. They make it up to a level where they are circling. There’s a knot (you’d expect an owl here). Inside, there’s a bundle of dark fabric. (very heavy weight with some gold). It’s a cloak with a golden catch.
 
Keaton puts it on. Light blue with gold trim, hood dark blue with gold trim. The orbs seem pleased.
 
They go back over to the well and start playing again.
 
We continue Westward. It takes us about an hour before we get to the worked road. There are cobblestones underneath the mud. But the water level is low enough for us to see. If we wait here, the road should come to us.
 
Keaton sees formless shapes in the fog
 
Andra has a boring first portion of the watch. The second portion… Andra hears the baying of hounds, the thundering of hooves (splashing of water), clatter as the hooves and claws hit the pathway.
 
She sees a massive white fox racing as fast as it can. Behind it, there’s a group of dark dogs chasing her. Behind them is a group of horsemen, extra limbs, things unnatural and strange. Both the horsemen and dogs appear demonic. They don’t seem to notice us.
 
Cirian has a mostly quiet watch. At the end, he starts to hear a thudding sound. Like a steady heartbeat rhythm. The sound gradually gets louder and it seems to be approaching our position.
 
He sees a large square shape moving towards us gradually. As it gets closer, he sees lights scattered about throughout it. Eventually, it’s close enough to tell that it’s a building. The inn is held up 20 ft off the ground by two chicken legs.
 
Cirian wakes us up once it's nearby.

We leveled up!

Sir Talivar goes to the front door.
 
It eventually settles down and the door opens.
 
Older woman, gray dress, white hair braided and held with a ribbon. She helps us up and in
 
Smell stewed meats, air is spiced with breads, stews, and a hint of smoke. We see a dining area with several tables scattered about. There are bottles of unknown liquids.
 
“Welcome to the Inn at the End of the Road” Tsu, we can call her grandma while we’re here.
 
“We’re traveling to Downfall, Tsu.” Tsu frowns slightly and tells him that talking about circumventing the will of Bavlorna is a dangerous thing to be talking about.
 
“We have not been able to traverse the route to Downfall in a number of days..”
 
The waters have disturbed the spirits that lie in the land. We met the children last night but the others are
 
You likely observed the Dark Hunt. She recommends that we do not engage them in any way. They started their hunt after the witch took over. During Zylbina’s time, the Dark Hunt was not allowed.

Cirian asks her of The Herigone’s. She does not like them. In exchange for their profits, they can do whatever they will.
 
They were of this land before but they weren’t allowed to steal and rob. Agdan Longscarf made a deal to gain his power.
 
She recommends that we avoid Agdan. He desperately wants a title and may wish to wed Korashana for her title, not taking no for an answer.
 
Cirian makes another deal .. a key for a song
 
The building shifts like being on a ship. The bad spot is a day away.
