New world chapter 1

As I felt the spell wash over me I found myself on the floor of a tavern for an odd reason, Seeing a member of the bar staff in front of me offering me a strange food I have never seen before.
I did not want to be rude so I accepted and held back the awful taste it gave out.
The staff member then told me that "My tower is waiting for me"
I had no idea what she meant by that and asked her what she meant.
Her words were "All you need to do is WAKE UP!!!"
 
I opened my eyes to see Reeze, Morvius and I falling onto a small ship fortunately Reeze and I managed to land without incident Morvius however not as graceful.
We were then approached by an elderly couple who were delivering pottery to the town of Brindle.
They informed us that it has been 500 years since the last people came from our world.
I can't believe it this must mean Black Staff is long gone by now, Well my plans are to get my friends somewhere safe So that means finding the people in power.
 
It was around this time I noticed Artie was not there on the boat and Reeze was holding his things and lottery ticket, I did not know what I could say to her I consider her a friend from the time we spent at Bluefield when her and Artie were hiding out, But I did not know what to say.
 
It was around that time we were set on by strange beings I have not seen before they were Lizard people who tried to destroy our ship, We dealt with them accordingly however the boat sustained a bit of damage and had to pull into the town of Squill.
 
The old couple were kind enough to pay for the damages the lizard people and to a lesser extent us caused, we did offer but we learned that our money is no longer valid in this new world adding being poor too our list of problems.
 
The ship wold take a few days to be repaired so we decided to stay in Squill for now, But soon after we arrived we heard yells and shouts calling out for a witch.
 
Like My mentor Cyrus taught me I must seek out those who would abuse magic and try to convince them that what they are doing is wrong and get them too stop immediately.
 
I saw a large crowd in front of the towns tavern at the entrance a priest was attempting to hold everyone out of the tavern saying "Leave the child be"
 
Now seeing this I'd had enough today without people spitting on the good name of magic so Morvious and I approached the crown and used a mix of our own spells to get them to back off.
 
The Priest thanked us profusely and we learned her name was Colara she was aiding the so called witch who turned out to be an 8 year old halfling boy who was hiding under the table clutching a book too his chest.
 
This book happened to be one of my favourite series in the multiverse in fact last I heard there were only 3 in the series now there are 27.
 
Sorry I that was a bit pointless to put in where was I?
 
Corlara explained to us that the boy was in the care of the Dwarf innkeeper and had been accused of 12 murders happening around town because each person that died had been in contact with the boy known as Daemon.
 
However these people were not exactly kind to Daemon and one threw a glass at the poor boy and turned up dead the next morning.
 
Going by Colaras and Daemons words she said the boy had no magical abilities whatsoever, so my next thought would be to check the bodies of the diseased.
 
I left Morvius and Reeze to settle things in the bar and follow Colara to where the bodies of the victims were being held.
 
Along the way she mentioned her husband Zenith who had fought and killed a necromancer by the name of Mazargo who was attempting to become a Lich however Zenith had lost his life in the process. I would later regret asking what they did with the Necromancers body.
 
When we reached the bodies I after some close inspection and... Vomiting I deduced that there was no magic involved in this whatsoever. The body almost looked like a wild animal attacked them but it was torn to shreds.
 
However something was different the bodies had no bite marks, All the vital organs were punctured judging from the blood loss the man was still alive as this happened to him it was truly a horrible fate too befall anyone.
 
It was also safe to rule out Werewolves vampires and Ekimaaras, Because no teeth marks were found on the bodies and the blood was all over the place left untouched even an Ekimaara would not resist a lick or two.
 
After regrouping I found out that the rest of the party had also been investigating while I was away, And with that we got a lead too the graveyard near the edge of town so that's where we went.
 
As we got there we saw that many of the graves had been disturbed and all the bodies recently buried had been taken from the graves, We even came across an empty grave that looked as if a tree had been uprooted and slowly pieces began to come together.
 
They had buried Mazargo in this graveyard and when a necromancer dies they have a small chance to grow what is known as a Corpse Plant out of their corpse that plant then proceeds to gather as many fresh corpses as possible.
 
This did not meet the same story as to what was going on in town but if something like this continues there will be a lot of trouble in the future.
 
We eventually found the Corpse plant and if the graveyard did not smell bad before from the rot and decay it was ten times worse with this thing.
 
After a fierce battle The plant fell and Morvius burnt the body of the necromancer for good measure.
 
It was then that the corpses of the cemetery's inhabitants spilled out of the plant and also the soul of a Paladin who I recognised as Colara's husband Zenith.
 
We asked him if he knew what may have been attacking the town and he told us it was a Bone Claw.
 
I had never heard of such a creature but he went on to explain that they attach themselves to willing and unwilling subjects sometimes the subject does not even know that they have one and they act on their emotions if the subject see someone or something as a threat the bone claw will attempt to kill it.
 
Zenith also mentioned how to get rid of the bone claw either we have to kill the person subjected to the bone Claw or redeem him by making him see the error of his ways.
 
As we learnt of this information we tried to return to town when we heard something coming from a grave that was recently filled, so we dig it up and I open the coffin and of course there is a skeleton in there but it was moving.
 
I promptly got out of there grabbing Mordy as I ran and hid behind a tombstone, I then saw Reeze and Morvius talking to it and even take it with them I really hope they do not let it near me that thing is really disturbing.
 
As we arrived back in town we saw the tavern being besieged again however the innkeeper and Daemon were no where to be found.
 
Colara explained that the leader of the crowd was murdered hours ago and The innkeeper and Daemon fled the town.
 
I decided to send Mordy out to find them he spotted their tracks and followed them as I came out of my trance by a small slap from Reeze I put a haste spell on her because she was faster than any of us and could get there quickly.
 
Also I had faith in Reeze I knew in the end she would do the right thing even if she was careless at times she is a good person.
 
Morvius and I soon arrived after Reeze talked the Innkeeper down telling him that we know whats happening now.
 
Morvius explained to The Dwarf what was going on and the Dwarf told us that Daemon was all he has left after he got back from the war he found his family dead.
 
We all could relate we lost our families too and it felt like just yesterday to us but it was 500 years ago.
 
Reeze offered to show him what he was controlling and as soon as she said that she slapped Daemon and the Bone Claw came charging at her as The dwarfs face turned red with rage, but as soon as he saw the bone claw his expression softened.
 
I was about to get up and do something but the Bone Claws attacks just went straight through her and then it disappeared leaving the plane of existence from what I could tell.
 
It all wrapped up after that. I returned to the town to inform the Calara of what happened and gave her Zeniths last words and she rewarded us with 6 healing potions a magic ring and 500 gold.
 
As I headed back to the cave however things started to catch up with me Cyrus, the people dying of the rot and now Artie.
 
I know I have to be strong for Reeze and Morvius right now because they lost a lot more than I have I have to put myself aside to look after them.
 
It's times like now that I wish I could be more than I am, I want to be like Reeze and Morvius Reeze for her strength and just all around quick thinking and determination and Morvius for his Charmful personality and how he can talk too anybody without hesitation.
 
I have been keeping it together all day but I just had to take a moment to myself to shed a few tears for the people we lost I just want them to come back if only there was a way.
 
I returned to the cave putting on a brave smile for my companions as I shared the gold and potions with them putting the magic ring in my pack but telling the party about it and if anyone desired it they could have it.
 
I had a pleasant conversation with Daemon who said that he had a spare copy of all of the lord of the blings books that he would gladly let me have but only the second edition books.
 
This cheered me up a lot maybe some reading would help.
 
I was actually surprised when Reeze went to... what did she call it oh yes she went to high five me it is bassically where we slapped hands together I did feel a very exciting feeling from that it was a lot of fun.
 
Morvius however hugged me I knew he probably just needed support so I hugged him back he turned out to be a nice guy he may be a bit mischievous at times but he has a good heart.
