The days continue on and we are making progress towards a respectable home here in the Underdark. Early on, a letter came from someone that wanted to meet us, and we made the decision to see what our new neighbors could bring us. I had heard of tamers that lived in the Underdark, those that turned the horrific creatures of these dark tunnels into ones that could be used by the Drow and the Duergar as beasts of burden. By the writing, it was known that this creature was well versed in the languages far beyond those of the Underdark, and that alone piqued my interest.
Barnum, Raider, and I made the journey through the twisting tunnels, marking our way with the runes of Sylvan that I knew so well. This assured that our path home would be an easy one if nothing else. Goblins crossed our path and Raider heard them speaking of our home, but they soon passed on and allowed us to continue to our destination.
Upon reaching our meeting, Barnum assumed that he would be making the deals with whatever creature had called us, but our meeting was not as simple as that. The word of a paladin and their order holds a weight that few understand, but that word comes with a sense of protection that few things can ever bring. Our discussions went well and Barnum established safe passage and trade with Kimbleflint, but it was the gold medallion with the tree of my order that sealed the deal. Only that mark would allow safe passage into our home while the goblins and others that wished us harm still moved through the caverns close by.
The rest of the evening and the next few days were filled with hard work as we tried to move forward with our home as much as we could. Syndra and Senku came upon the ceremonial set of some creature, and Syndra finished the ritual before others of the group went to meet what we could only assume were Kobolds after the information we gained from the Xorn. It seemed that many of our neighbors would be friendly, but others were out for blood.
In just five days, we have made so much progress. The beginnings of the store room are going up, soon to give us a place to store our abundance of goods. By the end of this first week, we should have something completed and be much farther ahead in progress than we could have originally guessed.
