On to the Next...

by Paladin of the Ancients Reinys Ylyndar

So much has happened in the past few months that I had almost given up writing it down like I had been so diligently. After rescuing the lord in Kestel, I found myself with a mind in turmoil, lost so far in my own thoughts and despair that I could no longer fulfill my duties as the leader of our party. In a moment of weakness, I handed that responsibility to Khalsinn, hoping that she could succeed where I had failed so miserably. I needed the time to once again find my faith, not only in myself but the mission that I so wholeheartedly believed in.

Syndra and I stayed with the party during this, often following behind when the main group called for us. I was lost inside my own head, often just blankly following Miz and Syndra when we moved to the next place. It was too many hours of soul searching and thoughts that I never wish to see again, but at some point, I began to pull myself out of what could only have been a depression. When we made our way to Tortle Rock Island to meet up with the group again, I was so glad that I had when I saw what had occurred.

A death in the party and then a end to it. In some ways, I was relieved to see that the group had disbanded. Khalsinn's tales from their last bit of travel just pointed to more trouble than it was worth, more trouble than a paladin or barbarian could save people from. So those that I had spent nearly two months with left and moved on, and all that remained were the four of us, tired, beaten, and ready to move on.

With Syndra's help, I sent the news of the disbandment to Kel in Stronghold. The four of us were unsure of what to do, but so unwilling to separate ourselves and lose the camaraderie. The surprise when a return letter from Stronghold appeared was great, but the words it held were a blessing.

There was a job for us, in the Little Greenwood, in the Underdark, if we wished to accept it. Someone needed to go to the Greenwood and help flesh out the details with those who were contracting us, but the reward would be great, even for Miz would balked at the idea of returning to her homeland. It would be an adventure beyond what we had seen so far, but it also meant that we did not have to separate as of yet.

I had once again found my purpose as a leader, deciding to travel to the Little Greenwood on our behalf. I would call for them when the time came and they would meet whatever party was formed on our path to the Underdark. There we would try again and be something, and I would find my faith again in my own abilities. I hoped that this new adventure would be what we needed, for my sake and for everyone else's.
