Maxim is usually seen carrying his enormous two-handed sword with which he has had with him since his Mercenary days.
Maxim since being forced to Japan has collected a bit of an armory for himself, carrying the long sword gifted to him by Kimaris the Archdemon of Pride, which upon taking in the soul of Hokku Kamui had transformed into Hokkuken.
He also carries a weapon of intimidating appearance, the Deathlord Buster, which he retrieved from the dead hand of Deathlord☠Troxiom upon his defeat.
Thanks in no part to the selfless action of Ryūzaki Sanosuke, Maxim was able to obtain a vessel to store the souls of the dead, for a reason he would not reveal. Receiving this gift while no doubt for a noble cause... will come along with countless slaughter as he fills the Vase Vitae with souls.

Personal history
Abandoned and left for dead in the Fae Forests by his parents at birth, the Fairies of the forest took interest in the baby and soon took him with them to raise as one of their own. A few years later he had accidentally crossed the threshold of the Forest and into the mortal realm. Due to the forests nature, his time with the Fairies became nothing more than a foggy haze. On the verge of collapse and with nowhere to go the boy stumbles upon a camp of Mercenaries that soon begin to argue what to do with the boy, most opting to leave him to the wolves.
While arguing one of the mercenaries wives whom lost their child at birth had taken a liking to the boy and convinced the leader to allow him to stay with them. Reluctantly agreeing, the leader told the child he'd be put to work to earn his keep, and so began the boys life in the Mercenary camp.
After a year of seemingly bad luck plaguing the group, along with the illness, and eventual death of the boys "mother" the more superstitious of the mercenaries blamed the child for all the issues, and demanded him be kicked out.
Rather than kicking him out, the leader decided to use the boy and work him to death, scavenging the battlefields after the fighting to find usable armor and weapons, treated like nothing more than a dog the boy's resolve in living does not waver once.
At six years of age the boy would constantly pester the leader to teach him how to fight like they do, and to wield a sword. Having nothing of a suitable size for a child, the leader agreed to teach him, but the boy was required to use a sword twice his size. Due to the lack of training weapons, and likely the hatred the leader had for the boy, the training was used with real swords, and the leader was relentless, often times pushing the boy to the brink of death.
One day confiding in the leader his desire to be a great warrior that everyone around would know of and respect, the leader burst into laughter and mocked the boy. Realizing the boy up until now had no name, he gave him the name "Maxim" which as explained meant "The Greatest" in his country. The newly named boy, Maxim, was beaming with delight before the leader continued on with his talk, telling Maxim he was dead weight and the only thing he'd be the "Greatest" of was scavenging the battlefields for equipment.
Unbeknownst to Maxim one of the Fairies who had taken a liking to him when he was with them had traveled long and far searching for him, and after finally finding him the fairy was shocked to find that Maxim could not see or hear the fairy. Upon seeing how he was treated in the camps, the fairy took it upon himself to stay and watch over Maxim.
After being involved in actual battle for over a year, and often being saved by the leader, who in turn would mock him at every chance, Maxim through sheer luck* had survived and earned his first kill in battle.
Now fifteen, and as tall and built like many of the men he was working with, he continued to fight and stand out from the rest in order to prove himself to everyone. During one battle the leader was killed in action, and while they were still victorious many of the members left to go find other work. Maxim, not having anywhere else to go implored people to stay, that they would regrow, and he would lead them to wealth and fame the likes they've never seen, only a handful of people decided to stay, and soon after Maxim replenished the ranks of the company and hired a man of well repute to help be a connection to the several kingdoms in Albion, Aleyn the Whisper soon became Maxim's right hand man.
After earning the moniker "The Wolf" and showing his ability to lead his men to victory, the Pendragon Rebellion had begun, and after some deliberation he form "The Wolfpack" and was soon hired by the Pendragon Alliance to assist in numerous missions. Upon making a name for himself and his band they were declared Knights of Pendragon, and Maxim promoted to Knight Commander, much to the protest of the other knights and nobility.
Years later The Wolfpack was tasked with a mission of utmost secrecy, something that would put an end to the rebellion once and for all. Unbeknownst to Maxim, Mordred had planted a mole within the Pendragon Alliance, and after arriving at the designated area for the mission, he was ambushed by Morgana herself. While managing to hold their own, The Wolfpack eventually became overwhelmed with the presence of Morgana and her elite. Trying to save as many of his men as he could, Maxim felt a sharp pain in his side as he swung his sword back attacking whoever who planted the dagger in his side. It was none other than Aleyn, who easily dodged Maxim's swing.
The blade was coated in a paralytic poison and Maxim could only stare as his men were slaughtered, unable to do a thing except glare at the man he once considered his friend. After explaining that he had been working with Mordred since the beginning, he told Maxim to not worry, as he couldn't kill his friend, and had made a deal with Morgana to send him somewhere far away and that he'd never be able to return to Albion. With those final words Aleyn kicked the paralyzed body of Maxim into the portal created by Morgana, and through sheer rage Maxim managed to roar in anger as Albion disappeared from his sights.
Now in a foreign land, and with the rage inside him infecting his mind he became nothing more than a puppet to the rage, dragging his sword along he challenged, and cut down anybody who seemed a threat, but in his blindness, that was anyone. No-one proved a challenge for him until one day he came upon someone named Honda Tadakatsu.
