The Battle of Losgate Harbour: RPG Session 19

General Summary

"The bandit falls to the ground, smoking."   "Smoking is really bad for him! He should really stop that."   ~ I mean, he was already dead. What more do you want?

 

Dramatis Personae

Heroes of the Story:

Gúrda Thérun, a Frost Dwarf druid from the wild North;

Geort Adanar, a human paladin and a rough and tumble sort;

Melé Alkabahar, a human avenger, seeking glory in battle against evil; and

Daz Dromégar, a human bard, fresh off the defeat of local bandits.

On the side of the Gratic Empire :

Captain Ribi Dérantu of the Gull's Reach, an Imperial Navy vessel; and

Pilka Zaltos, a small boy kidnapped by the Wildmen.

On the side of the Wildmen

 

Wildemar the Widowmaker, the leader of these bandits and the angriest of the lot.

What Happened

The group finished a short rest at the edge of the forest on Pirate Island and then immediately began the trek to other side of the island. Believing that the bandits were concentrating on the side of the forest that they initially attacked from, they thought they could be able to sneak around to the other side. Unfortunately, the bandits planned for this as well, and a they had archers shoot on the party while three other fighters wailed at the party with their dual swords.   Killing these guards, they broke into the watchtower only to hear the alarm bell go off. But not for them; they watched as a trio of Imperial Navy ships, including the Gull's Reach, sailed into the harbour of the island. The bandits mostly went to attack the ships, and with ballista bolts and arrows flying overhead, the party snuck into the bandits' mostly unguarded storehouse. There, they liberated a couple of magical items left behind in the fray, as well as a sizeable sum of money.   Following this, they made a run for Wildemar's house, hoping that the men on the beach would be handled by the imperial troops. Sneaking in through his open window, they surprised the few men left to guard the Widowmaker, and a feverish combat began. With a well placed, half-screamed prayer from Geort, Wildemar was crushed under a divine dragon paw, saving Melé's life from the hardened berserker. They made quick work of the remaining men, leaving one to be captured as the camp went up in flames.   The group eventually found Ribi on the beach, and while the boy wasn't with him at that moment, he was assured that the young Pilka Zaltos had been found and he would personally bring the young boy back to Bluewater. The group climbed back into the Gull's Reach for the quick trip back to Losgate as the fog over the lake finally began to dissipate...
