486 CE Belmont Dan Fearfeld and Nathan Palmer have made a discovery. These two accademics of necromancy, colleagues at the Magesterium Academia, have been delving into the libraries of the Magisterium and have made a remarkable discovery.   The long dead Thalium Empire had a bank of information on necronmancy that they sealed beneath the earth to avoid prying eyes from finding it. When the empire fell, the location and existence of this place was lost to time. Until recently. A group of so called "Adventurers" came back from the Grantar Desert with great tomes from ruins of a temple underneath the sands. As well as a collection of weapons, magic items, and potions, they discovered an entire library full of information from a world over a thousand years ago. Many of these texts were sold to private collections and some, those that were disucssing the magical arts, fell into the hands of the magisterium. It was in one of these texts that the author, an acolyte of an old religion, discussed The Thalium Empire's interests, and this is where Nathan Palmer started to connect the dots.   Accross various texts, the bank of Thalite knowledge on necormancy is referenced, as are sites of its suspected location. By cross referencing these texts, Nathan, working with Belmont Dan Fearfeld, believe they have found its location. The authors of these texts discuss treasures and tomes releated to the art of necromancy that they believe the Empire had hidden, proposes its value, and discusses the merits of obtaining these treasures. They talk of tests, trials, and magical defenses to stop people entering and stealing this. Through intense research, Nathan and Belmont believe they have found out where this place is, and are ready to go and find this trove. And that's where the party comes in.   The two academics have managed to trace the most probable location of this treasure trove, somewhere in the foothills of the Ridge Mountains and north of the Aegither Woods. The journey will take the better part of a month, travelling through the countryside of a nation preparing for war and through a forest so dangerous that it is has slowed the tenacious expansion of the largest single human nation the world has seen in thousands of years. Danger will lurk behind them at every turn, and so they will need some help (and maybe some funding).   Talking to old connections, they believe they have put together some useful allies. A noble, bereft of purpose and looking to prove himself, capable at fighting and fuelled by the righteous power of the dragonic gods. A folk hero, an elf who has spent her life protecting her home in the trees but is looking for a reason to explore beyond her small community. And an promising orc mage, filled with arcane power and looking to use her new abilities to expand the arcane knowledge of not just herself, but of the institution to which she has given so much of her time and hard work.
