70. Third Protocol Resolved Report

General Summary

13th Nymm, 999 YK

• Jumping off from last session, Lozaal engages the iron cobra.
• The cobra is a surprisingly easy fight, it doesn't get a chance to act before they kill it.
• The fight isn't over though! Dax' Athla has a moments warning before someone collides with her full speed. The elf!
• The elf stabs the ever loving shit out of Dax, and then teleports away.
• "Oh my god she's so hot" - Warden's player character 
• The elf proves to be the most dangerous of the assassins, and almost kills the party. As the fight goes on, she seems to get more powerful rather than weakening. She also flirts incessantly, seeming to enjoy the fighting a little too much. 
• After a while, she taunts them and has a little monologue. 
• "Wanton slaughter has it's place but it's not really what I enjoy. I much prefer the stalking, the information gathering, getting to know someone so intimately you might consider yourself a close friend, and then twisting the knife as you stick it in them. I think killing should be personal, I'll be seeing you again."
• Then she disappears.
• The party have a brief moment of respite. Lozaal rushes to the Salvage Market and manages to procure 3 greater healing potions and 7 regular healing potions.
• Lozaal then encounters Whist outside the Salvage Market, who tells him that if he needs to rest safely, the Traveler would protect them.
• Lozaal sends Homunculus with a note to tell the others to meet him at the Shrine of the Traveler, and then he goes to visit the chapel and procures another 3 regular healing potions.
• The others dish out some healing and then make their way to the Shrine of the Traveler. Kalshana produces a healing potion and spell scroll from her Robe of Useful Items.
• The spell scroll is for Scorching Ray.
• They make an offering of teeth, which burns in the bowl. Nothing seems to happen though.
• Lozaal has a moment of spiritual awakening, and prays to the Traveler for the first time. He puts his special coin in the bowl, with Atcha facing up. The other side, the side inscribed with Muut, is polished clean when he picks it back up.
• The whole group gets the benefit of a Short Rest.
• Saal Dreadstroke calls out again. He's changed the terms, he will execute someone every minute that the Oracle of War is not in his possession.
• They make their way to the Lightning Rail station for the final confrontation.
• Dax' Athla goes invisible and sneaks onto the platform while the others talk to Saal. He opens his coat and 5 flying daggers emerge and hover over hostages.
• Over the course of negotiations, Saal kills two prisoners. Lozaal manages to convince him to let 3 of them go, a halfling, a goblin, and a warforged.
• Dax sneaks up and tries to free one of the hostages. He hostage whimpers, alerting Saal, who signals the daggers to kill the hostages.
• Combat erupts, with Warden transforming into a giant ape! Kalshana casts Scorching Ray from the spell scroll.
• Saal is...surprisingly easy. He does a lot of damage, but once Warden gets close that's it. He is brutalised by the giant ape.
• As Saal dies, the Oracle of War releases a puff of smoke and states "Third Protocol Resolved." before falling silent.
• Lozaal searches Saal, and takes his things. In particular, a weird metal tube that has not been identified.
• Lozaal then rushes, with Giant Ape Warden, to loot the other assassins before the scavengers in Salvation realise it's safe and do it.
• They loot the suit of armour and the orc, the gnoll didn't have anything of note.
