The Traveler

The Traveler is the Sovereign of Chaos and Change. The Traveler is unique amongst the Sovereigns and Six in that it is not related in any way to any other Sovereign, including the Dark Six, even though it has been grouped with them. It is also the only Sovereign to have tales of it taking physical form and directly intervening in people's lives.   The Traveler touches the domains of all of the other Sovereigns. Like Aureon or The Shadow, the Traveler might impart knowledge. Like Olladra and The Mockery, the Traveler might encourage deception and cunning, and like Onatar and The Fury, the Traveler can provide inspiration.   Whatever gifts the Traveler imparts, those who fear and revere it agree, chaos is sure to follow. If the Traveler grants knowledge, it will challenge your assumptions and force you to reevaluate everything you know. If it helps you to lie and deceive others, those lies will bring chaos. Whereas Onatar might teach and help a swordsmith to make a better sword, the Traveler will show that swordsmith how to make a bomb.   The Traveler doesn't exist to satisfy your ambitions, it exists to set you on paths you could have never foreseen. These paths may sometimes lead you to good things, but they are just as likely to ruin you. When you invoke the Traveler, you are inviting the unpredictable and unexpected.   The Pyrinean Creed asserts that invoking the Traveler will lead to ruin more than it will lead to fortune. The Traveler is unpredictable and it doesn't have your interests at heart, it just values the chaos.   The Cazhaak Creed agrees that the Traveler invites chaos, but that ultimately this chaos will lead to personal growth. If we stay in our comfort zones, we stagnate, and the Traveler encourages us to adapt and branch out.   The Traveler is rarely portrayed in any consistent manner, and is thought of to be a shapechanger. Unlike the other Sovereigns, there are stories of the Traveler, or an entity like it, traveling and interacting within the world. Some changelings believe that the Traveler created them, and that it modelled them after itself.   Mythologically, it is said that when the Sovereigns and Six cursed the land of Xen'drik, the Traveler twisted the continent so that no path could ever be walked the same way twice.
