32. Bad Bounties Report

General Summary

5th Nymm, 998 YK

  • Warden returned from Natrac's house and reported Urthen's absence.
  • Dax' Athla borrowed some paint and a canvas from Bava and painted some abstract art. Only Warden understood it.
  • The party sleep at Bava's house.
6th Nymm, 998 YK
  • In the early hours of the morning, some of the children spotted goblins watching the house. They alerted Warden and Terfel.
  • Warden yelled out the window asking what they were waiting for.
  • Terfel stepped outside, and Kelarth attacked him.
  • When Geth went outside, the goblin scattered and fled. Dax still managed to restrain one and tie them up, and between them the others knocked 3 of them out.
  • They also knocked out Kelarth, and took him (and the goblins) inside of Bava's house to interrogate when they awoke.
  • Bava and Natrac went outside to appease the neighbours, stating this was an attempted robbery and that it's been resolved, no need to call the guard.
  • Kelarth has a bunch of stuff on him, he came prepared. Magebinders, gaeth'ad essence, irontwist cord.
  • They interrogate the goblins first. Kelarth gave them each a gold piece to watch the house. When the bounty hunter engaged, the goblins ran in not knowing what to do.
  • Kelarth is resistant to interrogation. They try to convince him, intimidate him, read his mind, and even Zone of Truth. He resists all of it, until Bava enters the room with a meat cleaver. Without saying a word, she marks herself and then Kelarth with paint, and just goes to cut off his ear.
  • He breaks almost immediately and spills the beans.
  • He was hired by Vennet d'Lyrandar, and the contract is for Dandra specifically. He recognised them from earlier in the day and thought it'd be easy money.
  • Kelarth confirmed that the bounty was still valid, if they let him go he would go after them again.
  • There is quite a bit of debate about what to do about him. Terfel, Dax, Geth, and Ashi were in favour of killing him now to stop him coming after them again. Natrac, Kalshana , Warden, Singe, Dandra were against killing him.
  • Natrac suggested that instead of killing him, they could ship him on to Sharn on the Lightning on Water. It's going that way anyway, and it has a way of holding him.
  • In the end the decision is presented to Llyr. He weighs up both options, but leans in favour of not killing him.
  • Kelarth is manacled, tied up, and also drugged with the gaeth'ad essence. Take no chances.
  • There is some tension between Singe and Geth, but neither of them talk about it.
  • Natrac and Warden go to check if Urthen has returned. He has! He told Kelarth where they went, and then went for a jog to calm his nerves.
  • Dax, Kalshana and Medala go to the Lightning on Water to warn the crew of their departure, their "package", and to have Medala wake up some more of the crew.
  • Bava approaches Terfel, who confirms they are going into Droaam. She insists that they can't take a child, and that Llyr should stay with her until they get back. If Terfel doesn't return, Bava will get Llyr to New Cyre.
  • Bava also takes Llyr's knife.
  • Dax gives Llyr another knife.
  • Terfel takes Llyr's knife.
  • Natrac suggests that they go to Vralkek, get the lay of the land and maybe find a guide, and then proceed to Tzaryan Keep from there.
  • There is some discussion about whether Natrac should accompany them. Dax argues that he's not a fighter.
  • Bava let's slip that Natrac has some experience with Droaam. He's a bit cagey about it, but after some coaxing reveals that he hasn't been there since before it became Droaam, but he does have experience with the area.
