Session 21: Let the Duskfall, Where it Crumbles

General Summary

So a change of pace for the party - a calm dinner with a noble family; served roast wyvern, roasted vegetables, sauces and wine. Introduced to the family, Lord Barlam , his wife Elisse (Liss), their daughter Aelira , a tomboyish flamboyant older teenage girl, Varyn , the eldest and slightly aloof son, Fenn the more wild and rude youngest. They traded pleasantries, of which the party individually took to dodging most questions, whilst continually interrupted by additions, first Colmir - freshly returned from preventing a ritual designed to corrupt the land with a red moss calling upon the deceased Halsaime, and a massacre at the werewolf camp.
Later interrupted the pleasantries by the late arrival of Solas back from Collinwood; there he was beckoned by Helm to warn Earl Bryton Taysith, of the intention of a woman in blue, with a glowing blue sword to steal a powerful artifact, a deck of cards from his hiding place. Gaining Bryton's trust, he gave Solas a letter he could give to Lady Tessaril Winters, whom in place could give him a key to his vault hidden under a place known as the 'Haunted Halls of Eveningstar'.
The dinner went pleasantly enough; with conversation, until an unexpected visitor arrived, using his rank and influence to enter without the lords knowledge. Proctar Alarphon Luthen Cormaeril of the War Wizards, seemingly alone - but all the same pleasantly surprised that the heroes at this feast were those he was hunting after a pointless departure to Marsember to his massive irritation. The dinner was cold after that - his presence a dampening effect, as he slurped his soup.
Eventually Solas was overcome by his irritation and left; shortly after Luthen left through Dimension Door.
The party concerned the War Wizards were about to attempt to recapture them, talked at length about their plans; Lucky sneaked into the young Aelira's room, expecting she would know a way out quietly; however, she seemed to have sneaked out after dinner to parts unknown and out of range of message. Her brother Varyn, condescendingly ignored Lucky's jibes at getting him to play the hero; perhaps more bluster than action.
Eventually, the party grew the nerve to disguise themselves and leave out of a side door, and sneak away, seemingly unnoticed. After waiting for 10 minutes to see if they were followed, they assured themselves that they had escaped unnoticed. If the War Wizards were watching the house, they were still doing so.
Catching up with Ironfang, and his childish attempts to hide his book that he claimed was a badge of office, he frustratingly avoided all attempts to show it.
The party headed on to The Warm Waterfall after resting overnight at the werewolf camp. Meeting up with Ironfang relaxing in the sulphuric waters of The Warm Waterfall; Finding the cave behind the waterfall was easy enough; inside, the noise was deafening, and a boiling pool blocked their way forward. Even ironfang could not bear the agony of the pool.
After some more childish antics by the 'Alpha' of The Lunar Concord; the party eventually got to glimpse the book he was hiding. The journal of Silverclaw; which clearly stated that silence must be cast, and to submerge in the boiling pool. With two spells, Silence and Protection from Energy(Fire) - Ironfang was able to finally submerge and open the way forward.
A giant cavern beckoned; through the mists; Fury taunted them closer. The giant wyvern stood on top of a giant pedestal at the far end, the room bubbling with lava and steam, rock outcroppings blocked sightlines. Ironfang & Co charged into the room, only to be met with the frightening presence of Fury, sending 2 werewolves scrabbling in fear, but a follow up the flames of fury - its most powerful weapon was used to incinerate two of the werewolves and just catching lucky at the rear as he was left in the open. Lucky managed to dodge most of the attack, but two of the werewolves were completely smouldering on the ground.
Fury attempted to distract Shadow from his eldritch blasts - using cutting words to affect his attack, but still took a massive blow to the chest.
Summoning Boeshoren; Fury was enraged further at the sight of her husband; launching into a tirade, "Oh look, fucking heroes are you, good for you, here to fight the good fucking fight against the mother who fought to protect her child from a leering old king of beasts? The queen who tried to reclaim her stolen daughter from the hands of a leering bastard who whispered poison in her ears, put a crown on her head, and called it love?"
You know what they did when Maeve fought for her? When she tried to bring her home? They didn’t face her themselves. No, no—Oberon and Titania are too *noble* for that. So what did they do?
They sent her grandchildren to war. *Her own blood.* Little hands wrapped around sword hilts, their faces painted for battle - it was a mercy that she took them in an made them her own. And still, she tried for peace. She sat at their table. She laid down her blade. And what did they do? Mab, the dutiful daughter. The perfect little queen. The bitch and the betrayer. Mab, Oberon, Titania, they played their game, smiled at their mother, and then they *locked her away*. Tore her from the Feywild, bound her in suffering, and used her fucking grandchildren as the locks. For what? A *crown of air and darkness*? A thousand lives lost. A mother betrayed. A daughter twisted beyond recognition. And for what? A fucking *throne*? Tell me, oh great fucking heroes - is this what glory feels like? Protectors of the perverse, and the wicked. JUST FUCKING DIE ALREADY!"
Boeshoren looked at the party; "I can bring her back - this is my task - keep me alive, I can end this" to the doubtful looks of the party having seen two werewolves vaporised....
