As the dust settles on the merging of the Vermos Kingdoms over a century ago, the country of Lanavess finds itself entering an unprecedented age of peace and prosperity. The merging of the four nations has brought with it stability and flourishing trade, and all are beginning to feel the effects of the new era.
To the northwest of Hammerfall, within the region known as the Deitic Tombs, new archaeological efforts have been started for the first time in nearly two hundred years. New catacombs are being uncovered, and with them, ancient and malevolent creatures are being awoken from their slumber. The First Prince of Lanavess has signed an ordinance for the contracting of mercenaries to keep the area safe, proclaiming that any brave enough to venture into the barrows may keep the spoils found within, provided that they leave it safe for the archaeologists to enter. Now adventurers are flocking to the Tombs, looking to be contracted to clear out the treacherous underground reaches in return for the gold, fame, and magical items that may be contained within.
In the midst of this, the normally quiet town of Tricorners has been turned into a bustling crossroads as the incoming sellswords get their last rest before setting off north through the mountains to the tombs. And it is here, in a small tavern, now packed to the seams with adventuring hopefuls, that our story begins.
