Session 16: Bleed And Bruise, You Little Cat

General Summary

Still in Ro'Hisan's workshop in Ma'Zar, the party continued the combat from session 15. The party managed to severely injure the three Tabaxi, causing Ro'hisan to surrender. The party quickly bound the trio and then began investigating the house and workshop. Alden headed to the Mithril Gauntlet headquarters in town to bring J'Lanni back. She'd fallen asleep at the counter in the entrance room. Waking irritably, she grabbed a couple other Gauntlet members and followed Alden.   Eirame checked out the ground floor of the shop, finding rack of clothes, a few clothed mannequins, and a cash box and ledger beneath the counter. Rome tried to interrogate Ro'Hisan, but he didn't reveal much. Shadow and Doug took one of the Tabaxi onto the bridge between the workshop and house, threatening her, to no avail. The pair searched the house, finding little on the ground floor but discovering a compartment built into a false back wall of the larger bedroom, accessible through a small knothole in the wood. In the compartment, they discovered a leather notebook, a bag of gold, and a suit of studded leather armor branded with the Ebon Axe logo.   Alden and J'Lanni entered the store, and everyone regrouped in the workshop. J'Lanni noticed that the writing in the notebook - a coded ledger of some sort - matched the shop ledger, and both matched the note attached to the arrow that had pierced Doug outside the Ebon Axe hideout. Doug showed J'Lanni the compartment in the bedroom. Taken all together, J'Lanni concluded the evidence was significant enough to arrest Ro'Hisan, and the three Axes operatives were led to a holding cell. Half the party stayed behind in the shop while the rest returned to the inn, hoping to apprise Chiranni but finding the inn dark.   In the morning, Althania arrived at the store, ready to begin her day's work as Ro'Hisan's seamstress. Finding the party, she was confused as to why they were in the workshop. They returned the cash box to her and briefly explained that she could now take over the business, following Ro'Hisan's arrest. Shy and reluctant but not wanting to be unemployed, she agreed.   Joining the rest of the party for breakfast at Forest's Edge, everyone returned to the Mythril Gauntlet outpost to meet J'Lanni. She rewarded them all with 200 gp each for Ro'Hisan's arrest and the accompanying evidence, and she offered them further work. While the previously-open bounty against the large plant creature in the swamps to the southwest had been fulfilled, but a scout had looked into the stone-like moving trees past Silverdew Pools to the northwest and reported that the forest was being petrified, so she asked the party if they would deal with the situation, believing them to be the most capable resources at the town's disposal. She offered them a Bag of Holding as an incentive.   Outside in the street, Shadow was approached by Dra'Zahna of The Flask, who asked him to come see her in her shop when the party returned to town. The party headed down the hill, leaving town to the north, and entered the forest, moving northwest from town.
