With the ability to upload GIF images, we seem to not have support for using these images for World, or Global covers; We can, however, use GIF images as page backgrounds, so why can't we use GIF images for something that is more upfront, and more visible to our audiences.
It would give us the ability to put the GIF images we upload to more use, and it feels like something we should have the ability to do.
The only use for GIF images being used as covers (that I can think of) is being able to express the importances in our worlds more, and open up more oppurtunity to engage new readers.
Sounds good, hovewer I would vote for adding support of webp format as well (as it seems to be future format replacing GIF). We can always go little further and add support for webm format as well.
I just don't think this should be a priority. It's nice, sure, but I'm more interested in ease of use improvements.
Got to be careful with this. Gifs are distracting, and very annoying at times. More people will click away from an article to not see the moving images because GIFs stops them from reading. But, as an article cover, at least you would be able to scroll away from it. Still not sure how I feel about it though...
As someone who really struggles with a lot of moving stuff on a site where I am supposed to read content, am rather glad that this is not a thing.
Gifs as a background image are more distracting than as an article cover (you can at least scroll down away from the cover)
This would be very helpful. I just had to get help with this yesterday in the CSS-Help channel on Discord. Once applied, part of the CSS wouldn't work on a different browser, so I had to get more help. While being able to use CSS as a Grandmaster, some ranks won't be able to use it, which seems unfair. @Dxactivatxd makes a good point for those wanting to use it. Perhaps it can be a tier based thing.
