I propose that all article types have the ability to set a Default / Featured Image (similar to the character portrait setting in Character Templates). The Featured Image could then be used in the following ways:
- Featured Image setting and preview would appear in the upper-right column of the article edit screen, similar to the Character article type.
- Featured Image could be placed in content fields of articles via a new BBCode tag that's linked to the article's Featured Image so that if the featured image were changed it wouldn't require changing the content. Image description could be included to serve as an image caption under the placed image.
- Article Blocks could be set to use the articles' Featured Image instead of the cover image.
- Links to individual articles could be copied / constructed that use the article's Featured Image as the link / button to the article. (If the featured image in the article is updated, all such links / buttons will show the updated image.)
With these features, it should be possible for custom templates to be setup to behave similarly to how Character templates work where the Featured Image could be set to automatically appear in, for example, the upper right corner of an article by placing the Featured Image BBCode tag into the appropriate field in the custom template.
While some of these behaviors are served via cover images, I've found that the dimensions and necessary sizes of cover images are sometimes poorly suited to use as icons or preview images for articles. Having 2 types / sizes / orientations of images attached to articles provides a great deal of flexibility and utility for further customizing the display of our content.
Thank you for your time and consideration!

This is not a bad idea, and I would very much like to see "libraries" of detauls images, but we will need to rank up some more support for this to happen since it's not a very easy one code correclty.
Please consider resuggesting further down the line and possibly ... "lobby" for it with an attached discussion.
