  I think this is a very good idea. The timeline events are not restricted to individual points; they can have a duration (start date-end date). So even if the event being a process were a sticking point, I don't see how this would be a problem given the timelines' current setup. :)

  Evolution isn't really an event though, it is a process and there is no specific point in time when something is one species and then next generation it is another. That's only in Pokemon. Mutation is an event. You could tag a point in time when a mutation happened, but evolution would be better characterised as an era. Just me being a bit picky... Sorry!
