there are comments for and against this and I think they all make good points ... creating just "monarchy" would fix the gender and label limitations of "kingdom" without getting TOO specific about the type of monarchy (which could be expanded upon within the article) ... I have a species that is a monarchy based loosely on insect hives, so it's entirely a hereditary "queen-dom" ... but most monarchy's historically were male led ... but what about an AI monarchy where they had no sex at all? ... anyway ... I think I'm beating a dead horse ... "monarchy" seems to balance everything out?
PLEASE ADD THIS ASAP
I agree. Monarchs don't exist in a vaccuum. They get old, they die, they can be deposed. Kingdoms often have lengthy histories with other kingdoms and that history can be pretty important to plot, so having a system that better supports a hereditary system for royalty makes the most sense to me.
I mean, my country's monarchy is hereditary, but it's a constitutional monarchy.
Hereditary doesn't actually say anything about the government system. A hereditary monarchy is a flavor of monarchy and could be absolute, constitutional, theocratic, etc. It's merely one way of choosing a leader, and that should be described within your article, just like any other method of choosing a leader.
That already exists, and to quoteAbsolute monarchy (or Absolutism as a doctrine) is a form of monarchy in which the monarch rules in their own right. In this kind of monarchy, the king or queen is by no means limited and has absolute power. These are often hereditary monarchies.
To follow the existing structure, it would be best to be "Monarchy, Hereditary". I feel like some of the other monarchies listed could also be hereditary, but also see no problem with this being added if some people would find it useful.
