What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, when creating a Diplomacy Web, the only option to show more detailed
Notes that explain the current Diplomatic ratings, or indeed, anything more than a vaguely-coloured line or two connecting Organzations in the Web, is to add this list in the Sidebar. This is insufficient for complex Webs involving multiple Organizations, because it turns the article into one long Sidebar. If you do not check this option, you cannot see these Notes at all. I would like more options, please.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
If there were codes to share these boxes elsewhere, like with an image or the Diplomacy Web itself, a variety of presentations could be offered. For example, a general code for all relevant Notes could be hidden under a Spoiler button, and selected when needed; or, if each Note has an individual code, these might be presented in a grid fashion using the
or
BBCode commands.
This would have the quality-of-life side benefit of making sure that you only have to edit a Diplomatic relationship in a single place, if it changes over time (and what Diplomatic relationship doesn't?)
What are other uses for this feature request?
Anvilites could choose to display some, but not all, of a given Organization's detailed Diplomacy Notes, such as the most significant relationships.
Or, these Notes could be made available in different places, such as to provide more detail on Alliances Articles without having to invent a relationship between an Organization that is part of an Alliance and the Alliance itself (ie. Allies in WWII; OPEC.)
Further, some Diplomatic relationships could be hidden in Secrets that are revealed only to particular Subscriber groups (ie. A conspiracy that is influencing the rulers of a town or nation; secret societies; thieves' guilds; criminal syndicates; resistance or rebel groups with covert support; secret cults.)
Follow up
Sorry about the columns. I was trying to mention the (col) and (col3) BBCode commands.
Regarding those asking for a Diplomacy Tab at the bottom of the article: Yes, that would solve 90% of my issues, too. Not as versatile, but it would do the job and I would be satisfied with that :)
Thank you, team! That is awesome! Much appreciated.
The Team's Response
We will investigate how creating a bbcode to display a single relationship, creating where it can be manage by one place, and creating lists on a tab not just in a sidebar.
