Related Item Template Species

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Item templates only have "Related Ethnicity", which is unhelpful when items are attributed to an entire species (i.e. Dwarves).

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Adding "Related Species" fixes that.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Also aids the attribution of innocous items like saddles (where the species would be generically 'Horse', or whatever mounted species they have in world).

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! We are declining this suggestion because this is not what the species and ethnicity templates are for. To give a basic explanation, a species is defined by their biology (and only their biology), while an ethnicity is defined by culture. What makes you and anyone use a specific object is your culture, not your species (i.e., your mountain dwarves might use forging tools because they have a culture that places importance on them, not because of their physiology).   If you want to create a monocultural species, you can create an ethnicity article that talks about that species' culture. And you can always use custom side panel fields too; click here to learn how.
