What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
I am stupid.
While you can't change that variable in the current situation, maybe there's a workaround for that.
As my world expands, my article structure changes from time to time as well to fit in new aspects of my world. However, this led to a couple of times where I accidentally crafted the same article twice - only noticing it when I try to link it in a completely different, new article. For example, I created the article for orcs twice in an intervall of two months and noticed it only when I created a country where orcs dwell three months after that. So I had to splice two multiple-months-old articles together into one, risking continuity errors as I based my world around two different (albeit similar) foundations for orcs in the process.
My suggestion would be a notice in the interface when I give an article a name that already exists. If the article "Orcs" already exists and I name an article "Orcs", a red box could show up, mentioning that I already named an article such. I would suggest it not to be case-sensitive ("Orcs" and "orcs" would be considered the same article name).
I also suggest that it doesn't have mechanical consequences - if, for some unholy reason, I need fourteen articles called "Sand", I should be allowed to do so.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
It would be a very small and neat quality-of-life change, making the worldbuilding for the more forgetful folk like me a bit more easy. :) I am fully aware that I would still need to be more cautious when it comes to a restructuring process.
Thank you for your time reading this!
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! We'll add this in the quick article creator and the article manager. We'll investigate the possibility to add it to the full article editor as well, but we're not certain no this last point.
