Festival of the Sun and Moon

The God of the Stars Nyota was in love with the Goddess of the moon Mwezi, who in turn was in love with the God of the sun Jua. This angered Nyota so much that he tricked Mwezi inside the nightly sky, with him surrounding her. Jua wanted to be with his beloved, so he took his place chasing her. But he was always one step behind her. Only one day of the year they were able to be together.   That day is now called the Festival of the Sun and Moon.

Execution

But every town and city has its own little traditions.   Hifadhi:   In Hifadhi all the women gather on the village square and are cooking together a large meal. This meal is shared in the evening with all the people inside the village. If people are not able to attend due to illness or something else, the meal is brought to them. The leftovers are divided so that no food goes to waste.     Salama:   Salama, those not, have a large meal that is being shared with the whole village. Instead, they spend the entire year making small, thoughtful gifts for their loved ones. Think about clothing, weapons, jewelry. It those not matter what you make, as long as you make it with your own hands.   Mtaji:   Mtaji, the capitol of Cidor celibrates it with a number of large dances. Everyone is invited, and everybody joins in. Expect the people inside the palace, who do not celebrate this festival. The reason why this is, is unknown.
