Discovery
The need to have message travel quickly became a must during the war between the
Scribs and the
Witches of the dawn. So the witches invented beacons that needed to be light up. The color of the fire would tell others what type of message it was.
Black: Death
Red: Attack
Yellow: Enemy close by
Blue: Victory
Green: Birth
Purple: No enemy insight
White: Fall back
They used magic to effect the colors, the Scribs used powder to imitate the effect.
Access
Only the head of the household, which could be a man or woman. Could access the beacon, and they could a point someone if they were not able to get to it. In times of an attack or an untimely death.
Utility
Every household had e beacon at one point, during the war. The Scribs of course figured out what the color schemes meant and started to imitate the fires. But for some reason the witches were able to see through their plan and this became something of the past.
Social impact
The witches started to rely on this more and more, and when the Scribs used it for their own gain. It hurt their pride. The system was even used for a time after the war. But quickly died down when animals were being used as means of sending long letters. Which was more efficient, the beacons are now a thing of the past.
