Okuran Dominion
The Okuran Dominion is the newest country within Zintera. It's a country mostly consisting of villages and towns. However, the royal family Okura is a strong player within Zinteran politics. Ever since the Okuran War, the dominion has been a brewing pot of culture. People who came from Zholavra melded with the people of Old Westrale. This means new people, new magic and new allies.
Geography
The northern part of the Dominion mostly consists of plains, hills and two large forests. It has a continental climate, but gets hotter and more humid the further south you go. The southern parts of the dominion are swamp lands. A hot and humid place with little to no people living there.
Okura Fields. The biggest plains in all of Zintera. It is mostly peaceful and has the most beautiful crop and flower fields. This is where most villages and towns are located.
Bloody Split. The Bloody Split is a very large and wide river that runs all the way from up north in the Zholan mountains and ends in the Gilded Sea. It is the border marker between Westrale and the Okuran Dominion. It is called the Bloody Split since during the Okuran War, the water turned slightly crimson at times from all the blood spilled along the shores.
Gashed Woods. A large forest that goes through both Westrale and the Okuran Dominion. It houses many dangers. It is believed by the Kavarhi that it is a forest full of spirits that try to protect it. Many monsters lurk these woods and nobody lives within them. It is rarely ever used as a place to travel, but it does house some of the rarest and most potent herbs, flowers and mushrooms for alchemical purposes within Zintera. People living close to the Gashed Woods have been told ghost stories from childhood to keep them away from the danger.
Degami Grove. An oak forest that has many fruits, herbs and nuts to be harvested. However, it is dangerous to try and take too much as the forest itself will retaliate. The trees, shrubs and vines can move on their own and try to defend the forest against anyone seeking to harm it.
Charian Swamp. A large almost uninhabitable swamp. Not only are there many dangerous beasts within the waters and between the greenery, but it is has been cursed. The curse makes the dead come back to life during the night. A long time ago before the elves ever even reached Zintera, there lived a Kavarhi tribe there that made the first ever city on Zintera. It is still unclear what exactly happened, but something befell this civilization and cursed these lands. The city has since sunk. All that remains of these people is a enormous temple in the middle of the swamp.
Sunken Peaks. Even more to the south of the swamp, the trees start to thin out and make place for old karsts. They even reach out of shallow portions of the sea. These parts are most affected by the swamps curse. It is to be believed that the sunken city of Tarva once resided alone this coast.
Magic
The Okuran Dominion has an interesting stance on magic. They see the utility and the danger in all kinds of magic. Especially on arcane magic they keep a close eye. However, it is still possible to perform these magics legally. As long as the caster has officially been trained.
Druidic. Within the Dominion druid magic is relatively new. This magic has spread through the word of the Kavarhi that now live within the Dominion. It is a highly respected form of magic, but is mostly used for ritualistic purposes and doesn't go much further than practical usage within smaller towns.
Holy. The Dominion has slightly stepped away from the gods, however to many people of Westrale heritage, religion is still a huge part of their culture. The usage of holy magic is permitted as long as it is done under the watch of churches approved by the government.
Arcane. This magic is seen as most dangerous by the Dominion. However, they also see great utility in its use. The usage of arcane magic without official training will be heavily prosecuted, but it is taught. It can be personally taught be a willing arch mage or by getting a degree at Ruxmore University in Ealendore. Every town and city has at least one arch mage assigned to it that helps the civilians and supports the governmental forces there.
Demography and Population
The social division in the Dominion is pretty large. The rich are very rich, however, the poor are really that poor. Except within Ealendore. This is where the poor people of the country truly suffer. People in the countryside can produce enough to sustain themselves, but the people in Ealendore have no land to farm, no rivers to fish and no forests to forage from.
Race Rarity:
Any races not mentioned in this table are extremely rare to find. Not meaning they don't exist.
| Common | Rare | Very Rare |
|---|---|---|
| Dwarves | Gnomes (forest, rock, deep) | Goliath |
| Humans | Lizardfolk | Triton |
| Halflings | Orcs | Tiefling |
| Goblinoids (goblins, hobgoblin, bugbear) | Elves (High, Wood) | Dragonborn |
| Elves (drow, shadar kai) |
Military
The Okuran Dominion does not have an extremely strong military. However, they do have an interesting arsenal of fighters among them. Except for Revalin, the Dominion has the most amount of arcane magic users. Not only that, they are also second for most druidic magic users. Within times of conflict, these figures have shown themselves very useful. But the most intimidating pawn the Dominion has, is Alagon, the ancient red dragon under the command of the Okura family.
Trade & Transport
The Dominion has such strong agriculture, that the products produced from it for a large part go across the border. Especially to Zholavra where it is almost impossible for regular crops to grow.
Worship
The Dominion allows the worship of all the gods. The following are the ones most commonly followed.
- The Eternal Smith
- The Vined Howl
- The Warding Light
