Westrale

Westrale is the kingdom of the first humans that came to Zintera. They have been at the center of conflict throughout most of Zintera's known history. A country that was much larger but a century ago. It has the biggest and most profitable port cities and it's known for its well equipped military. The royal house of Westrale, House Leistner, has a long family line of humans that go all the way back to when the first humans colonized the Gilded Coast.

Geography

Westrale's landscape mostly consists of plains, forests and hills. Though there some mountain ranges, they are nothing compared to Revalin. It, for the most part, has a continental climate. However, the weather gets a lot hotter and more humid the farther south you go along the Gilded Coast.

Glory Hills. The glory hills are the most northern parts of Westrale. This area has way bigger and steeper hills than the plains further south. This is why the Glory Hills partially mark the border between Westrale and Zholavra, they are hard to travel through. In the middle of the area lies Lake Vail, a big lake that is used as a water source by people living nearby. The hills and the mountains are inhabited by many types of creatures. Most notable, hill giants. They have been a large issue for the people of Westrale, but keeping them at bey does increase the countries defenses along the border.

Bloody Split. The Bloody Split is a very large and wide river that runs all the way from up north in the Zholan mountains and ends in the Gilded Sea. It is the border marker between Westrale and the Okuran Dominion. It is called the Bloody Split since during the Okuran War, the water turned slightly crimson at times from all the blood spilled along the shores.

Gashed Woods. A large forest that goes through both Westrale and the Okuran Dominion. It houses many dangers. It is believed by the Kavarhi that it is a forest full of spirits that try to protect it. Many monsters lurk these woods and nobody lives within them. It is rarely ever used as a place to travel, but it does house some of the rarest and most potent herbs, flowers and mushrooms for alchemical purposes within Zintera. People living close to the Gashed Woods have been told ghost stories from childhood to keep them away from the danger.

Gilded Coast. A coast line that has gold and treasure written all over its history. The climate around the coast is more akin to tropical jungles than the north of the country. It is relatively peaceful, but the forests do house some dangerous animals and plants. The Piercing fields are, however, more of a danger. It is a field of limestone karsts that poke out of the ground. It is still unclear is to how these rocks came to form as they did, but the area is protected by earth elementals.

Magic

Westrale has had its history with magic. Before the Okuran war, it was studied with collaboration of Revalin. However, the war changed the perspective of the king and his people. For many year propaganda against the usage of arcane and druidic magic has spread. It has been outlawed with grave punishments being given to those who dare to break those laws.

Holy. Faith is important to the people of Westrale and its laws on magic reflect this. Holy magic isn't only lawful, but encouraged. It is seen as a great blessing that can serve the kingdom and its people. Within every hospital there will be a clerical healer present and within every military battalion a paladin.

Demography and Population

Westrale has a big division between the poor and the rich. There are many farmers within the lands that are not well off and many nobles that are very well off. Additionally, Westrale isn't as accepting of every race found within Zintera. People who aren't from human, elven, dwarven, gnomish or halfling linage are usually looked down upon. Especially those considered to be from "Kavarhi blood", like orcs, goblinoids, drow and tieflings. Additionally, draconic bloodlines are seen as filth by many. They represent the old regime and followers of a tyrant in their eyes.

However, there are more races here touched by other bloodlines. Since the population mostly consists of humans and they adapt the best with other bloodlines. Aasimar are even sometimes worshipped and the tritons stemming from the Gilded Sea are seen as true allies.
