The Element of Earth

The element of substance

Spirit King: Baoshan   What it stands for: To the people of Zheng-Kitar, Earth represents substance and stability, as well as strength. It represents durability and longevity, as well as the strength and persistence of both character and creation to endure all manner of hardship, and the stubborness to do so head-on. It represents harmony and the ability to live in peace with one's surroundings moreso than any other element, as it is upon Earth that all things rest upon at some point in their lives.   Common Alignments: Those aligned to Earth are commonly Lawful or Neutral, and are seldom chaotic in nature. They lean towards neutrality on the moral alignment axis, but can often be found to be any moral alignment whether good or evil.   The People of Earth: Those closely aligned to earth are often diverse, stubborn, and strong. They are often those who face their problems, fears, and foes head-on, and are often those most likely to happily die for what they believe in. They are often unshakeable souls and are often persistent, enduring, and focused on substance, practicality, and longevity either in themselves or the items they make. They often focus on or treasure living and existing in tune with the world around them, or perhaps treasure harmony and unity above many things.   Virtues: At their best, those of earth can be the unshakable pillars that stand firm in the face of overwhelming odds or impending doom, acting as the steady rocks that ground those around them. They can be those that understand better than anyone the importance of "Balance" and living in harmony alongside one's surroundings, though many might have differing ideas of how to achieve or maintain that. They can be the infinitely confident, stubborn, and tactiturn ones who stay when all others would retreat, and who walk headfirst into their problems where others might flinch or try to make excuses. They will often take immense pride in what they create, and work in all things with a focus on longevity and the "big picture", having pride but tempering it with practicality.   Flaws: At their worst, those of earth can be stubborn fools who can never accept when the time is right to turn the other way, do something differently, or solve a problem from the side. They can hold grudges and never forgive others, look down on those not like them or who place different values above theirs as lesser, and can come to possess an almost haughty pride in their works to the point where the quality of their work suffers for the pride they exude over it.
