Elder Fragments

A weird dark, pulsing black, crystalline piece rests on a pedestal underneath a statue of some unholy and abominable figure. A cloaked and hooded figure approaches the pedestal whispers a few words under his breath and a faint black-purplish glow emanates from the crystal piece. A small purple rift begins to form and the hooded figure begins to back and run away. A hand emerges from the rift and extends it's hand out to form a  spectral tendril lashes out and powers the rift even more. A crystal then shatters and then closes the rift. Another crystal in the hand of a human injects the crystal into herself, lets out a loud gutteral scream. The fabric of reality begins to shake and shift, and a misty, shadowous, looming figure standing behind her cries our and then her form begins to slowly shift and turn into the shadow behind her. She then extends her hand and in a Eldritch language her Fireball, turns into a orb of despair and insanity, Another crystal in the heart of a mountain forms and then breaks a small piece, a pen, begins to write in a language of the Elder Ones. A Scroll begins to form from the small bowl. The scroll then lays rest. An new spell has been born from great power.
These Fragments were here long before the Godlings and here they will stay to forever keep the Elder Ones sleeping.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

the crystal works at the risk of the users own sanity being broken and their mind becomes apart of the entity. the crystal has a dark essence that is inside of the center that if paid close enough attention can cause a sort term insanity. the center gives a vibrant astral glow through the center and forms of the Elder Ones can be seen traveling through to the users own mind but quickly gets pushed back by a barrier.

Significance

These are the shards of the elder ones and the world that they had made. The Fragments are used to communicate and used for the summoning of the Elder Ones, as well as, inscribing new and unique spells and spell effects.

Rarity

rare occures near great openings of the barrier.
