The Founding of Zeon City

This is the foundational myth of Zeon City, and by extension the Zeonian Empire.   This myth informs Selune's status as the state deity of the Zeonian Empire.

Summary

The people of Zeon believe that the moon goddess Selune, coming down to the Prime Material Plane from the Celestial Plane on one of Her hikes, saw the people of Zeon living lives of little means as a nomadic tribe. Taking pity upon these creatures, and taking them as Her own, she wished to grant them a place where they could be protected from natural disasters and attacks from other tribes. She raised her arms and a massive mountain, taking Her holy shape, rose from the earth around the tribe. (See Mons Selunis)   She descended from the mountain's peak and appeared before the tribe's leader, and gave him Her blessing, and declared that great prosperity would come to them should they follow Her, and bade that their tribe should grow, and spread, and in so doing share word of Her power that more should come to worship Her, and if they should obey this command that their people would soon command the entire breadth of the world.

Historical Basis

The people use the crescent shape of Mons Selunis as factual basis that this story did, in fact, occur.

Spread

It spread as the official foundational myth of the Zeonian Empire, and is taught to all the empire's citizens as children as official state history.

Variations & Mutation

There is extremely little variation of the myth's current form.   The original myth was likely purposefully revised and/or censored by the Zeonian Empire when it became a part of state education.
