Smartfoam™

Smartfoam™ (a Deepwater Solutions product) is a highly reactive/adaptive tactical nanoliquid stored under high pressure—typically in a programmable handheld canister. Upon release, atmospheric pressure results in Smartfoam™ expanding to fifty times its stored volume, whereupon it executes upon its canister-programmed directives.

Smartfoam™ is most commonly utilized by police units in the quelling of domestic unrest, such as riots, protests, civil disobedience, and the pacification of aggressive or fleeing suspects.

Smartfoam™ can also be programmed to assume useful forms, such as ramps or barricades, and is sturdy enough to bear the weight of an armored personnel vehicle or resist military rounds. Additionally, Smartfoam™ can be tasked to ‘glomph’ individuals designated to be ‘of interest’ and restrain them for questioning. Smartfoam™ is even capable of limited movement or pursuit by remaining in a volatile state after release, creating momentum and rolling toward its target, then concretizing upon impact. A built-in safety measure ensures that Smartfoam™ denatures into non-reactive fluid if it has not concretized after thirty seconds or has travelled more than 100 meters from the point of release.

There have long been calls from civil rights and advocacy groups to have Smartfoam™ classified as a Protocol One weapon, citing occasional suffocations and broken limbs. Thus far, such suits have not gained traction.
