QuaDS

QuaDS (Quantum Data Storage) is proprietary Surata Institute technology. Only one unit exists, and that was recently stolen during the Surata Orbital Habitat attack. It is one-of-a-kind primarily because its creation is a poorly-understood accident. Until the tenets behind its construction are fully understood, the sole existing unit is utterly priceless.

QuaDS is a highly experimental innovation in data storage-and-analysis. An array of four separate processing clusters, each cluster composed of a myriad of specialized “dogbrain” problem-solving/pattern-recognition algorithms operating in what appears to be enmeshed quantum superposition. This singular quality appears to allow QuaDS to crunch data and synthesize conclusions from very dense data sets, enabling baffling leaps toward miraculous conclusions which have astounded leaders in their fields.

SI have unsuccessfully experimented with utilizing the QuaDS unit to incept true General Intelligence. While the “intuitive” nature of the unit’s subquantum mesh is well-suited to deductive leaps, it proves fatal to concretizing a cohesive, structured, and “static” intelligence. QuaDS analysis of the nature of the failure also yields increasingly nonsensical outputs. This has not helped discredit the opinion of QuaDS skeptics that the “leaps” Surata claims the unit has made are so far out of left field that, conveniently, they cannot be verified.

The QuaDS unit was invaluable in providing what progress has been made thus far on the mystery of xenoculture XC-7P. Anyone able to retrieve it in working order and return it to the Surata Institute would be rewarded to a staggering degree.
