Heirlooms are the nickname for ancient Vestige Technology floating around. Humanities Vanguards where the result of the Vestige and other races have similar tales, but not all Vestige technology is superstructure in size or scale some times it's just a very very old ball that one might have confused for space junk, but maybe that ball turns out to be the secret to hard light clones. The galaxy will never know until they find it. So the Heirlooms are sought after for high prices for the potential they bring.
