Demographics

Almost entirely gryphons in the Upper City, and a mix of gryphons and other races in the Lower City.

Government

Solissa is governed directly by the Emperor, who resides in the Upper City.

Defences

The Upper City has a magical dome that can be extended around the city, as well as magically reinforced crenellated walls around the perimeter. The walls' towers have ballistae on top of them. There are also some floating artillery platforms around the city. These platforms look similar to the top of a tower, and usually have ballistae on top of them.
The Lower City has magically reinforced crenellated walls, with ballistae on the towers.

Industry & Trade

Solissa's largest industry is mining. The city contains many stonemasons and sculptors. Solissa is also one of the larger exporters of fish and other seafood, as well as the only exporter of Drirugale parts.

Infrastructure

The Upper City has quite a few windmills.
Roads are generally quite well-maintained and there is a harbor in the Lower City.

History

Solissa was founded at the same time as the Adrizrehan Empire, in 1257. It wasn't brought into the air until seventy years later.

Architecture

Most architecture in Upper Solissa is ornate stonework, with marble being a popular material. Architecture in Lower Solissa is similar to that in the Upper City, but is generally less ornate. Many of the Upper City's buildings are quite tall, since upwards is the only way to expand in a floating city.

Geography

Solissa is a coastal city that is divided into two sections: the Upper City and the Lower City. The Upper City floats in the air above the sea. The Lower City is on the ground in and around the crater where the Upper City used to be, and grew around the mines there. It is commonly believed that the secret to sky chariots lies within these mines. The area around the Lower City is mostly flat, and is used for farming.

Natural Resources

There are farms outside the Lower City, containing a variety of crops and livestock. The Lower City also has many fishers. There are mines, most of which are in the Lower City Crater, where the Upper City used to be.
The Upper City has the only Drirugale farms in Zelunica.
