Personal history
Anala was raised in Harbourtown by the Tanner family. Her adoptive parents were transplants to the town and did not know how to swim, a mark of great shame for Anala. She taught herself as early as she could how to swim, both to avoid that shame and to save her own life from the overtures of her older adoptive brother.
Her best friends growing up were Sebastien and Isidora. She was so close to each of them, romantic feelings started blossoming between her and Sebastien and then Isidora. They might have been happy together, were it not for █████████████████████████. After that she hurt her friends, joined the military, and left town for the rest of her adolescence.
Sexuality
Throughout her life Anala has experienced attraction to both men and women, but is generally fairly reserved sexually. She did not have her first sexual relationship until she was an adult, in her late twenties, and after that first romance, the pressures of political and family life made it difficult to explore much.

Hobbies & Pets
Anala has no pets, unless you count her horse, Endymion -- a gorgeous black stallion that once belonged to her father, before she stole him in her flight from Voco.
Since adolescence she hasn't had any time for hobbies -- she joined the military and life was training and working as hard as she could to get on the bellica-track. Then being a Bellica was non-stop work, and during her one extended spate of leave she spent her time fomenting rebellion against the Empreena Zardria.
Now that she's the Lady of Voco, her life is taken up with classes on how to be a proper Vocan lady, ruling the country, taking care of her sister, and numerous other things that fall to her, and her alone.
To be honest, if she suddenly had time for hobbies she wouldn't know what to do with herself.
Speech
Anala has a very strong Harbourtowner accent and this has been a source of some friction in her life outside of that town. When first in the capitol of Athering, various higher-born people were very cruel about Anala's accent, and she felt ashamed.
However, she refused to change for them, and kept her accent. She just relegated speaking to her Major, Aro, and changed her reputation from "Barbarian" Anala to "Taciturn" Anala, which fit much better with her decisions in battle as a Bellica.
In Voco, her Harbourtown accent has presented a much larger obstacle to achieving her goals, and she's facing the very real possibility she may have to work on changing her way of speech.
Relationships
History
Anala and Yarrow came up together in the Atherian military and forged a war-buddy bond. That bond was tested, and broken, after the events of the Battle of Voco. During Bellica, Anala and Yarrow reforged their friendship and deepened it, becoming best friends and confidants.
