John Bent

Freshly orphaned son of the noble Bent family, his fate changed to strive for redemption through the church of the Raven Queen

Son of the noble Bent family, John grew up in the prosperous city of Bayonne. Jarrin Bent, John's father, spent a considerable fortune to purchase training for John. He hoped that one day John would be able to join the Emerald Envoy in the The Spire of Kings. After a rebellious adolescence John embraced this destiny as a ticket to a greater destiny, away from his hometown.

Bent's involvement in seeding paranoia

Months ago, the city of Bayonne descended into a deep-rooted paranoia. John witnessed the streets turn from that of a rustic cityscape to one where robbery and battery were commonplace. People disappeared from the streets at night and others locked themselves in their houses with enough rations to survive until better times. John Bent ran into some adventurers on a fated day and was terrified by the half-owl, half-bear monstrosity that the group escorted across the city. The city was seemingly in the grasp of a cult to the Deep Mother.

Orphaned

Unbeknownst to John, Jarrin and Emithy Bent were deeply involved in the cult that held the city in its grasp. In the heat of this paranoia Jarrin and Emily were killed by an adventuring group for their involvement in the chaos. In the guise of the monstrosity he encountered the day before, John Bent set out to fight crime in the streets of Bayonne in an attempt to regain some control over his and many other a Bayonnais' life.

Altered fate

Pursuing the trail of a murder on the streets the night before, the same group of adventurers happened upon John beating up robbers. They pursued him and identified him as the killer by questioned. However, John seemed unaware and appalled by the consequences of his beat down last night. The group convinced John to change his life for the better: he was to join the church of the Raven Queen to strive to redeem himself.
