Lions-By-The-Sea
Lions-By-The-Sea is a city built within the shadow of a pair of absolutely massive lion statues; this is made yet stranger that there are currently no lions living within Obril, nor have there been in living memory, or even within the written record. Each statue is over 900 feet tall; one is made of startlingly white marble, and the other seems to be made of some sort of polished black obsidian, yet both are unmarred by the sand. They detect as magical, so perhaps the magic protects them. Regardless, this is one of Obril’s coastal cities, and quite the pleasant tourist destination. Because of the shade from the statues, much of the day is quite cool, if a bit dark. Propagandists from the Capital tell tourists a story about how an old Emperor carved these two statues as a monument to his two beloved cats from across the ocean, how he worked day and night, with spell and machine so that he could honor his deceased pets.
