Blauton
Blauton is the Obrili name for the blue-nosed hobgoblins. Blautons are the ruling elite within Obril society, including the Telquin family, the family of the current Empress of Obril, Empress Gabrielle IV.
The State encourages a program of blauton supremacy over the rojapas, or the red-nosed Hobgoblins: the blautons are the only ones allowed to own land, and thus are much wealthier than the rojapas. Roughly 40% of the hobgoblin population is blauton, only a small percentage of which are members of the four families, the only "pure" blautons in Obril.
Children born to parents of different ethnicities may have a red nose, a purple nose, or even a blue nose, but they will never be thought of as a blauton by any Hobgoblin, and certainly not by a blauton, who knows their parentage.

Only four families represent all of the "pure" Blauton Hobgoblins. Their predilection to marry among only themselves has lead to a narrowing of the gene pool.

Blauton hobgoblins have been influential in the oligarchy and as agents of the imperial throne of Obril. Empress Gabrielle IV herself is a blauton, belonging to the Telquin family. The Telquin family has ruled the Obril state for over 700 years.
Common Etiquette rules
Within Obril, blautons will expect rojapas, foreigners and slaves to refer to them as "ob," "oba," or "obi," depending on the gender of the blauton in question.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Marriages within extended family;
To keep their bloodlines pure, and to ensure that the distinctive blauton blue nose is passed on generation after generation, cousins will marry cousins, and aunts and uncles will marry nephews and nieces. Often it's better to not too-closely examine the family trees of these four families.
Common Taboos
It would be a great shame upon their family for a blauton to too closely associate with a rojapa, and almost none would dream of starting a family across ethnic lines.
