Vorath, Chosen of the Pyre
Lord of Ash, Dragon Lord
Overview
Vorath is a name spoken in caution throughout the Shattered Reach and whispered among caravan captains and expedition commanders in Port Vaeloria. Reports describe a massive, draconic warlord clad in blackened steel, his eyes like molten gold and his voice as commanding as a thunderhead. He marches at the head of a discipline-forged army of dragonborn and kobolds, carving a path of conquest across the ruined frontier.
Vorath claims to walk in the name of Simmera , though no recognized temple or clergy acknowledges him as sanctioned. Many believe him to be a heretic, others a zealot, and some fear he may be something far worse.
Known Characteristics
- Vorath is a dragonborn of immense size and strength, unlike any recorded lineage in modern Zaltheran archives.
- He wields a massive gauntlet, rumored to be crafted from the jawbone of a Godwyrm. The gauntlet bears a triangular socket on the back of the hand—empty, as if awaiting something. This relic has no recorded match in any vault or scripture.
- His army is composed primarily of dragonborn zealots, kobold legionnaires, and rumored fire-marked beasts twisted by some form of elemental influence.
Current Activity
Vorath has been seen establishing camps and “crusade fortresses” deeper into the Shattered Reach. His movements suggest a purpose beyond conquest—as though he searches for something.
Some scouts report he speaks often of "divine ascension" and “the voice of the pyre.” Attempts at negotiation or observation have failed; intruders are incinerated or captured and do not return.
Legends & Rumors
- Some say he was once a priest of Simmera who sought her favor too deeply, and in doing so was transformed.
- Others believe he discovered a relic of the ancient fire gods in the Reach, and now burns with a power not meant for mortals.
- A few whisper that he is being guided by something far older, something buried in flame and fury.
