Overview
Long before the rise of mortal empires, the world was shaped and watched over by the Godwyrms—five colossal dragons born of Itharyx, the Dragon-God of Primal Elements.
Each godwyrm was more than a beast. They were elemental titans, sovereigns of storm, tide, flame, stone, and shadow. Legends say they spoke to the elements, shaped continents, and kept the balance of chaos and creation in the material plane.
In the Age of Dragons, they were said to fly beside Itharyx himself, his most trusted companions—his children, creations, or perhaps reflections of his fragmented will.
The Five Godwyrms (As Remembered)
- Pyraugon – The Infernal Fang (Fire)
A serpent of living flame and molten scales. His roar split mountains and his breath melted kingdoms. - Thalassaryn – The Abyssal Heart (Water)
Leviathan of the deep. Her coils shaped ocean currents and calmed tempests with her hum. - Terraflask– The Rooted Maw (Earth)
A wyrm of stone and silence. His slumber grew forests, and his wake reshaped valleys. - Caeloryn – The Shrieking Gale (Air)
A sky-wyrm of thunder and wind. Wings like hurricanes. Said to laugh in lightning. - Umbrosk – The Eclipse Coil (Shadow)
A phantom of dusk and forgotten things. Moved through the folds between worlds, never seen, only felt.
Their Fall
All five godwyrms are believed to have perished during the Sundering of Itharyx, slain by mortal hands, divine betrayal, or the unraveling of the elemental planes themselves.
Their bodies became sacred sites—mountains, oceans, dead forests—and their memory faded into scattered cults, forgotten inscriptions, and myth-warped songs.
Some say their deaths unshackled the elements.
Others whisper that they are not dead… only dreaming.
Legacy
- Remnants of the godwyrms may still exist: bones buried beneath obsidian, talons forged into weapons, or breath sealed in storm-wracked stones.
- The godwyrms are revered in secret by elemental sects, wild druids, and certain dragonborn bloodlines who believe their return is not only possible—but inevitable.
- Many scholars believe the Shards of Itharyx—the living gems of elemental essence—are somehow tied to the godwyrms’ destruction or souls, though no proof survives.
