Children of the Pyre
Legions of the Flame-Wrought, Crusaders of Simmera's Trial
Overview
The Children of the Pyre are the burning legions of Vorath, the self-proclaimed Flame-Wrought Warlord and chosen of the divine flame. Composed of dragonborn war-priests, scorched kobold battalions, and firebound crusaders, the Children march across the ruined landscape of the Shattered Reach with one purpose:
To cleanse the world in flame and forge salvation from ash.
The Children believe they are not simply an army—they are the crucible, sent to prepare the world for a divine reckoning. They speak of a prophesied site, the Pyre Throne, where flame shall choose its final vessel, and through that vessel, remake reality in sacred fire.
Organization
Vorath, Flame-Wrought Warlord
- Supreme commander and prophet.
- Wields a draconic relic tied to the ancient godwyrm Pyraugon.
- Believes the voice calling to him from beneath the Reach is Simmera herself.
The Embermarked
- Vorath’s inner circle of dragonborn zealots.
- Each has undergone fire-branding rites and emerged with burn-scar sigils that glow in battle.
- Often serve as war captains or divine judges within the legion.
The Ashbound Choir
- Chanting war-priests who perform battlefield liturgies, ignite relics in flame, and invoke divine trials.
- Said to sleep standing within circles of fire, whispering to the flame in their dreams.
The Blackened Chain
- Kobold forge-engineers and saboteurs.
- Build siege machines from scrap and voidglass, crafting war engines infused with burning spirits.
Beliefs
- Suffering is Salvation. Pain purifies, and fire reveals true strength.
- The Reach is Trial. It is not a cursed land, but a divine test field forged by Simmera’s will.
- The Pyre Throne Awaits. A holy site lost in the ruins will crown the worthy flame-bearer.
Tactics and Methods
- Hit fast, burn hard. Use flame-enhanced siege engines, fire-breathing mounts, and devastation spells.
- Entire ruins are turned into living fortresses, with fire glyphs carved into every stone.
- Recruits are tested through a baptismal burning trial—few survive, and those who do are changed.
