Guilds and Factions

The merchant guilds play important parts in the economy, but special care is taken to prevent any one from becoming a dominant force.   Craftsmen guilds are just as important, as they are capable of turning the raw goods brought into the city into items of more value.   The adventurers guilds help keep the population safe with missions to hunt and capture(or slay) creatures or people that are a threat or may became one.

History

Malikur was the first city to be built in the Zilfr Desert, at least the first one that has lasted. The ones that came before it were taken by the sands, never to be seen again. It is said that the reason that Malikur, and other cities of Xertz were capable of surviving the wrath of the desert was because of a deal the first Sulak made with a Djinn, in exchange for a debt to be repaid later. Others say it's a magic unique to the country of Xertz. While most say it's just dumb luck. Whatever the case, the city has turned into a true haven for trade and commerce.

Easy access to water, arable land for farming, and the gold mines that the city has nearly mined dry.
