Castermini Shipworks

Castermini Shipworks is, as the name suggests, a corporation that primarily produces seagoing vessels in Castermini. They were founded early in the 5th Century, and dominated the market for both oceangoing vessels and smaller rivercraft. They were somewhat slow to adapt to the introduction of the steam engine to ships, and initially attempted to outcompete early steamships with the production of fast clippers. This failed, however, and they eventually began producing steamers themselves, though they have never recovered their dominant market share.
Their main competitor now is the Imzari Corporation, which has continually produced ironclads of superior quality, as well as faster, if considerably more expensive, civilian steamers. Castermini Shipworks still produces a majority of civilian steamers and military gunboats, but they are facing increased competition in those areas both from the Imzari Corporation and government-owned factories.
