Designated High Imperial Ambassador
A Designated High Imperial Ambassador, not to be confused with an Imperial Ambassador, is a representative of the Emperor/Empress of Yura who acts on behalf of The Empire of Yura in negotiations with foreign nations. The number of Designated High Imperial Ambassadors usually numbers around thirty, not including the various clerks and other diplomatic staff that work directly under them. The Designated High Imperial Ambassadors are based in Magava, Capital of Yura and Artamus, but most are dispersed throughout Pronis, and relay their messages back to Yura through scrying pools or opalescent glasses. A coveted and competitive position, most Designated High Imperial Ambassadors serve in the hopes of being granted the position of Grand Imperial Ambassador, Lord/Lady of Nations, granting them an honorary seat and advisory capacity to The Imperial High Council.
Requirements
The following qualifications are required for nomination by the Grand Imperial Ambassador, Lord/Lady of Nations for the position of Designated Imperial Ambassador:
-The nominee must be at least twenty years of age
-The nominee must be from a noble family (at least Aphichn Tauch)
-The nominee must be fluent in Yuran, High Yuran, Common, and one additional language (preferences given for Eriran, Previan, Ishaki, and Athumoran).
Appointment
Once a candidate has been nominated they present themselves before the Emperor/Empress of Yura. Generally the Emperor/Empress asks a few simple questions, the assumption is that if a person has been nominated by the Grand Imperial Ambassador, Lord/Lady of Nations they are qualified. Then the Emperor/Empress places his/her hand on the head of the candidate, and presents them with a specially locked scroll case for their use.
Responsibilities
The Designated High Imperial Ambassador acts as a representative of The Empire of Yura and acts to advance Yura's interests to foreign governments. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: Drafting and editing treaties, protecting Yuran citizens in foreign countries, meeting with and representing Yura at official functions and events.
Accoutrements & Equipment
All Designated High Imperial Ambassadors are gifted a jeweled scroll case by the Emperor/Empress of Yura. The cases are made of gilded steel, and further fortified with magic. The cases are enchanted to only open to a certain phrase and if one attempts to use magic or force to break them open they will destroy their contents.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
A Designated High Imperial Ambassador can be removed from their post at any time by the Grand Imperial Ambassador, Lord/Lady of Nations if and only if they receive approval to do so by the Emperor/Empress of Yura (the Grand Vizier may not do so). If the Emperor/Empress does not give approval the Grand Imperial Ambassador may issue an order to recall the ambassador, in order to allow them to answer the charges levied against them. This case is generally argued before the High Judge, Lord/Lady of Law (see The Imperial High Council), who then presents the evidence gathered to the Emperor/Empress. If the Emperor/Empress finds the Designated High Imperial Ambassador guilty of the charges they are removed from their post, if they are found innocent the charges are dropped.
