Heartscale Fish
Heartscale fish are common fish found worldwide in warm, tropical waters. They are a well recognised species, due to their appearance and association with love. They are commonly referenced during Valentine's Day.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Heartscale fish have small, round, heart shaped scales of which it gets its name. Their body and fins form a traditional heart shape. They are approximately 6-7cm long as an adult.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Heartscale fish are not fussy eaters. They primarily feast on coral and sponges, breaking small bits off with their strong beak and crunching it up for digesting. If there are no coral or sponges, it will eat sea grasses and kelp, which are easier to eat.
