Frost Mountain Range

Gosh, it's high up here! I'm struggling to breathe a bit!
Yeah, it's tough. Did you know, on Earth, the highest mountain is only about 8800 metres tall? That's only a third of this mountain!
— Two hikers that have reached the tip of Blue Mountain
The Frost Mountain Range is the largest mountain range in the The Frost Lands. It is famous for a number of reasons, including but not limited to its abundance of races of creatures, tied with Kaltian mythology, and it having the tallest mountain in the world, Blue Mountain.

Geography

The Frost Mountain Range, as implied by its name, is a massive mountainous region. The mountain range is an umbrella for several, smaller mountain ranges. The Takri Mountain Range to the north, the Xino Mountain Range in the south and in the east, and the Nahaira Mountain Range in the west. The moutains, on average, are about 10,000 metres tall, except for a select few, including blue mountain who reached 14,561m tall.   These mountain ranges all converge on a large gorge, called the Mistfall Valley. This valley is covered by a thick green smog that houses many mysteries, for example The Bone Snake of Mistfall Valley.

Lakes

Dotted around the Frost Mountain Range are hundreds of lakes. A considerable amount of these are endorheic, such as Munteric Salari, the largest endorheic lake in the world. It is located north of Blue Mountain, between four separate mountains and has been dyed lightly blue thanks to the minerals found in Blue Mountain. The lakes that aren't endorheic all have rivers that flow directly into Mistfall Valley, and it is a mystery as to where the water goes. These lakes provide migratory homes for semi-aquatic birds that arrive in the summer months, as the freshwater lakes provide essential water and food for them.

Glaciers

Containing the second largest inland deposit of snow and ice in the world, it isn't a surprise that the Frost Mountain Range contains many glaciers. 42,924 glaciers currently exist, 8,596 are retreating, and 34,328 are expanding. As the climates are slowly getting colder in this mountain range, this increase in glacier sizes will be continuing.

Ecosystem

The flora and fauna of the Frost Mountain Range varies greatly with seasons.   In lower altitudes, more herbivores live, such as ralamahrs and razrams. These creatures are hunted by the predators of these areas, such as marcorets, large birds that soar the skies and pick off the elderly and the young from ralamahr herds.   In higher altitudes, ralamahrs can still be found but a lot less, as they are more comfortable and safe in lower regions of the mountains. Instead, rocky ralamahrs, a subspecies of ralamahrs, are found here, which are more accustomed to the nimble life of living on the mountainous cliff faces.

Ecosystem Cycles

In the summer months, the warmer climates encourages lots of migratory birds to fly over to the many lakes and calderas. More plant life shows up in the summer, many of which hibernates over the winter, their roots deep in the ground are collecting water from the aquifers and water table.

History

The Frost Mountain Range has its fair share of history. Somewhere around 7000 years ago, rock golems had taken over the Takri Mountain Range. They had created giant stone tablets which they wrote down stories of their adventures on, and had descriptions of what they believed to be in the Mistfall Valley. These tablets remain on the cliff face and serve as tourist attractions.   A sub-group of harmonids, the Kozkonyonyaosi, appeared about 1.8 million years ago. They took over the west of Kaltia and the Frost Mountain Range, and over the course of a million or so years they evolved into a more canine looking sub-species that was more adapted to the cold. They had constructed several large civilisations among the mountain ranges, usually in the smaller valleys on the south of the mountain range.   At around the same time as the kozkonyonyaosi, cave rocklins started appearing. This sub-species of rocklins were a little bigger, more blue, with purple crystals on their head. They travelled all the way from Rocklin Island just west of Aendatha, to try and find new land that they could colonize. They found the Frost Lands, and after several terrifying encounters with various creatures, sapient and non-sapient, they found Blue Mountain and its cave systems where they would then settle. Along with the Kozkonyonyaosi and the Rock Golems, they formed ideas on what was in the Mistfall Valley.

Tourism

The prospect of climbing the tallest mountain in the world is what draws a considerable amount of tourists to this mountain range. Millions of people have sailed, flew, and drove from around the world just to have a go at reaching the tip of Blue Mountain, to most's failure. It is now so popular that several tourist destinations formed around this idea, and people can book holidays to campsites and resorts on the mountainside and are given guided tours along safe routes to the peak of Blue Mountain.   As well as this, skiing is very popular in the Frost Mountain Range. Along the east of the mountain range, skiing resorts are dotted along the mountains, where not only professionals but amateurs are free to skii, either on their own or taking lessons. Most of the professionals are locals, as most people who live on the mountains are excellent at skiing, whereas most amateurs are foreigners attempting to learn.   The sights alone attract a lot of tourists. The views from several peaks are world-wide famous and admired, which brings in a lot of visitors attempting to see the entire continent, from certain angles and peaks several coasts can be seen. Even Mistfall Valley can be seen from most mountains.

Are there a lot of fatalities on the higher mountains? Thinking about Everest and its death zone.   I really like the section on the history and the ecosystem. :D I bet the mountains are beautiful even though they are tall and scary.
