Yeia

Scope

The motivation behind building Yeia

I decided to create Yeia firstly because i wanted to combine my two passions, history and fantasy, and secondly as a way to improve my english skills, as it isn't my native tongue, so please forgive me if you see some grammatical or spelling mistakes in my articles, although i always try to check them in order to correct any mistakes they might be in them.   I have some experience creating ucronies and ficticious countries but Yeia is my first opportunity to create a whole fantasy world!, so i hope you like it.

The goal of the project

Aside for my desire to improve my english skills i'm plating to create a novel or shorts stories based on my world, and who knows, perhaps even a little comic! hehe. I want my viewers to inmerse themselves into a somehow familiar and also exotic fantasy world, with civilizations closely related to our own world and some traditional fantasy races as the half elves having a more important or visible role.

Yeia's Unique Selling point

Well, What i think that makes Yeia unique is the blending of both history and fantasy specially ancient- early medieval history combined with a traditional fantasy setting. For example here the elves are not hostile to most of the humans and have a more importart role in world politics.   Then we came to the human civilizations. History is my pation and i studied a history degree at University. So as i said previously, i want to combine history and fantasy, specially my favourite era, the greco-roman world and the Ancient world in general. For example the Ikarians are based on the Romans, the Blatians, their descendants on the romanized peoples of Western Europe and the Byzantine Empire. The Oronai, the "cousins" of the Ikarians, are basically greco-macedonians and the Elvish-Oronai, my beloved half-elves, were inspired by the Greco-Bactrian and Indo-Greeks, but more "exotic" as they are basically a Graeco-elvish civilization. The Seris on the other hand are a combination of Persia, China and Japan plus the Tocharian civilization in Western China, the Nords are basically vikings and some other nations are inspired in different medieval kingdoms.   This ancient setting i think could be perhaps the think that i wish would like to the kind people that "pay a visit to Yeia".   Also, one different with other fantasy worlds that i've read or saw in movies or tv shows is the fact that humans and elves, the main species in my world can marry and have offspring that is not sterile. So you may see lots of half elves in many realms.

Theme

Genre

Yeia is based on a low fantasy world, where magic is not uncommon but its not as relevant as in other fantasy worlds. Here not many people achieve the highest forms of magic that implies things like resurrecting people, becomming inmortal etc... . But for example you can find wizards participating in battle launching spells at the enemy or creating traps for them.

Reader Experience

Yeia is a world full of wars, conspiracies, power struggles but also is a land of magic, adventurers and heroes, either kings, sages, wizards or common adventurers. You can be terrified or affraid of some characters but you can also emphatize with other characters

Reader Tone

The tone of Yeia could be seen as somwhere in the middle between dark and bright worlds. For example the power struggles, the conspirations, the wars resembles Game of Thrones but there is also a bright side in Yeia based on fantasy animes if you can called it, like Konosuba or Danmachi.

Recurring Themes

If you like intrigues, wars, funny stories and adventures, great and legendary kings, adventurer guilds, good and evil wizards, light or bright magic i hope that you'll enjoy my world!.
