Laelin's face is adorned by a series of suspiciously clean scars around her eyes, almost looking surgical, but not quite as pristine.
Special abilities
Laelin is the inventor of the Sanguine Arts, a type of blood magic used by ya'rinian vampires. while Sybil possesses similar powers, hers are instinctual, while Laelin turned them into a legitimate school of magic.

Laelin usually dresses in purple silks, matching the Empress, but when in combat, she dons ornate leather armor.

Personal history
Laelin was already a Vampire when she met the Empress, turned by The Sanguinary Queen herself and touched by the Abyss. She had fled the chaotic clergy of Lolth and conspired for centuries in exile, chaperoning escaping Drow and their prisoners to the surface, all while keeping a close eye on the nearby Illithid colony. When the Empress emerged as her Ulitharid self, Laelin seized the chance, approached her and proposed an alliance. Together, they slew the Elder Brain and founded the City of Ya'rin, together with Laelin's Drow defectors and the surviving Illithid.
