Masadans

These humans are citizens of the Nation City Masada, located on the edge of the Zenubian Desert. A strong and hardy folk, each member of the city is either a child or an accomplished warrior first, their ‘profession’ comes second. Women are particularly important as they are the primary source of the next generation of warriors.

Bio


Masadans are human without exception.

Habitat

They live in an arid land that is not a true desert but is often very hot. They have become quite skilled at irrigation because of their environment.
  • Masada. This capitol city is a fortress. Within Masada there are various zones for food and culture but make no mistake; war is the business of this city. There is a source of water that is an underground lake which allows Masada to hold off armies for extended periods of time.

Global Politics


Masada is mostly interested in military affairs. Other than that they try to stay out of the realms of diplomacy. They would much rather see matters settled with the sword and despise financial influence.
  • Allies: Sandscrits of Zenubia & Zenubians are close allies of Masada, and the Wind Lords hold them in high regard.
  • Adversaries: They have low views of Dragonelles due to their peaceful nature, and they distrust the moneychangers of Granada. Little else interests them other than their direct neighbors.

Languages

They are human so their list is fairly standard.
  • Hebrew. This is the official language of Masada.
  • World speak. Common tongue.

Demeanor

They are almost the Spartans of 300. In a party they are the most warlike and are also the most likely to come up with the best exit strategy. They are not the ones that should be selected for diplomacy. But they can certainly be trusted to safeguard the ambassador.

Stunts

They are human and have the following powers.
  • Strength in Numbers. Humans tend to be stronger in numbers when they join as the race of Man. This is a +1 that can be added to almost any group endeavor. Cost: 1
  • Resilient and Resourceful. All humans have a knack for survival and are able to learn almost anything. They are only limited by their imagination. Cost: 1
  • Soldier of Masada. Each citizen of Masada has a +2 to combat in all situations and a +2 to Fortitude, Athletics, Awareness and Will while in combat. They may substitute between Fortitude, Awareness & Will during combat for defensive actions, as long as the soldier is aware of the threat, but this cannot be used against physical magic. Magic that affects the mind can be fought off using the Will attribute. Cost: 8

Aspects

They all have the following aspects:
  • Masadan. They have a +2 with all matters involving Masada and are very adamant about their allegiance and profession. Invoke: Being used to the desert sun, naturally think like a warrior. Compel: Will defend Masada (or another member of Masada) at the determent of self & others; will at times see peace as a weakness.
  • Egocentric. A soldier of Masada is proud, but not a braggart. They have supreme confidence that there is no finer solder on, above or below ground and when asked they have no hesitation to tell you so. A challenge to one’s proficiency as a soldier is a challenge to one’s Wo/manhood. Invoke: Confidence boost. Compel: Eager to show how good a soldier/killing machine you are.
