Habiforming

Habiforming is the mystical technique where unlivable spaces are made livable and livable spaces are even made more viable. Elves are the undisputed masters of this technique as their affinity for life magics and their long lifespans give them the aptitude and the time to perfect the art.
Habiforming has allowed the creation of aether-worthy Tree Ships 10 miles in height which are then lifted into space (a one time process) for the express purpose of becoming living habitats capable of housing literally hundreds of thousands of inhabitants. These trees often take a century to grow and craft the innards.
The ultimate manifestation of Habiforming is to take a hostile world and make it habitable. This process takes from 20 years to 2 centuries, depending on the nature of the world.
It is rumored that the SCU has a device called the Genesis Projectile which is capable of habiforming a world in 30 days, developed as an attempt to emulate the planetary level habiforming technique of the elves. This rumor is currently unsubstantiated.

Utility

The creation of self-sustaining life spaces where there is none greatly expands the colonization abilities of The Folk.

Manufacturing

For the largest projects, the Mirisalon Tree is the most important component of habiforming.

Inventor(s)

The Elves collectively maintain that their goddess gave them the knowledge.

Access & Availability

The elves select their students very carefully (even amongst elves). These students are inducted into the Daughters of the Divine (see section under Elves), who are the stewards of these particular mysteries.

Complexity

Habiforming is incredibly time consuming and complex. Only the most disciplined of casters will even attempt a minor habiforming project.

Discovery

The fifth world colonized within a few short years after development of the Aether Cube was the world Mirisalon, by a colony of Elves. The atmosphere was opprossive to all humanoid life forms, even goblins (which are known for their hardiness and adaptability) but the elves claimed the world. Within 50 years they had learned the secrets of the Mirisalon trees and its role in habiforming, and they had completely habiformed the entire world into a paradise.
