Duchess Alyssa Renaldi
Duchess Aemelia (Emily) Grace Alyssa Renaldi, daughter of Duke Renaldi of the Annular Radiance, now known as the Annular Necrocracy, is a survivor of what she calls the “Beginning of the Annular Holocaust,” the Assault of Catari She is know as Emily or (by those who know her) Alyssa.
Background
Catari was one of the few remaining Brightblade strongholds of the Hegemony and it’s chapter seat, Blade’s Bastion, was one of the cities struck by the orbital bombardment. Alyssa (as she prefers being called) survived because her father had placed her on a SunCorp research station and had given her a Runner (small working class vessel known for its high maneuverability and speed, often Double Cubed by Royals). For two years she was hunted throughout Hegemony space, and she quickly came to understand that she was being mystically traced. Ditching her ship, she fell in with a group of Adventurers who eventually made their way here, to Freeport. Two years ago, her closest friend and Brightblade protector, Dark Tangent - what his Adventure friends called him, his real name being D’artagnan was killed in a duel, something she thought was quite impossible since he was the finest blade she knew. She had sent her other protector, Ascue, back to Catari months ago, but has heard nothing since. She is coming to believe that may have been an incredible mistake if what she suspects is true. Leading up to that fateful day when she had to escape from Catari, her father was becoming increasingly nervous and resigned. The SunCorp board was abuzz about an incredible discovery that was now bearing fruit but her father was becoming more and more concerned. At first she thought it was his typical concerns about corporate espionage, but then she realized that it was far more and had something to do with Nula. Alyssa and her agents have pieced quite a bit of information concerning the Rise of the Necrocracy, but she is not sure if her father survived the Assault.
