The Sceocian goddess of storms and oceans.

History

Created by Sceos as the twin Sister to Stran, the god of the wilds. Xyllu spent her life before her ascension enamored with the sea and all its wonders. She, like her brother, was enthralled with the freedom and majesty of the natural world. The two were inseparable in their youth, but in the end, Xyllu chose the vast seas over her brother's devotion to the wilds of the land.

During the early years of the pantheon's existence, Xyllu met and became friends with Inili, the god of mountains, borders, and graves. When their friendship turned into something deeper, he asked for her hand in marriage. She accepted and together they parented several children—the most well-known of which is Theron, who would become a god of rivers, streams, and merchants.

After the ascension of the Sceocian pantheon, Xyllu became a revered and powerful deity. Her worship spread far and wide across many lands. Many sailors and merchants pray to her for safe passage on the waters or prayers for bountiful catches from the deep. In her role as Guardian of the Seas, she protects sailors and fishermen alike against the depredations of rogue pirates and dangerous waves. She also blesses vessels with good weather and calms violent storms that threaten those under her protection.

Holidays

Festival Day

Her official festival day according to the Church of Skoria. The twelfth day of the rainy season (which begins with the first heavy rain of the year). Usually celebrated with feasts and sacrifices of fish and other sea foods.

Harvest Festival

The celebration of the start of the harvest season. It is usually celebrated at the end of summer, as a way of thanking the gods for their blessings during the previous growing season. Traditionally, it is held on the last day of summer.

Wild Festival

She is worshipped in a small way on her brother's festival day. Some believe that celebrating Xyllu on this day will bring good luck.

Ocean's Bounty Festival

Celebrated on the first day of spring, it occurs when the ocean is filled with food for fishing. It is an important holiday in the kingdom of Salvas, marking the beginning of a new cycle of life and said to bring a year of prosperity to all the citizens of the nation.
