An expanding kingdom on The Western Coast of Calas

Notable Locations

Alore

The capital city of Salvas, named for the port that connects the kingdom to the Undersea Kingdoms of Alure

The Silver Peak

The tallest mountain in the Sterling Mountain Range. It is the tallest point in the kingdom, and one of the tallest in Calas

The Temple of Xyllu

A magnificent and ornately designed structure, the Temple of Xyllu is the largest temple to any of the Sceocians outside the Holy State of Skoria. The temple was built in the capital city as an offering from the Royal Family as thanks for becoming the kingdom's patron diety.

Industry & Trade

Salvas is primarily an export economy, with it's biggest trade partners being The Undersea Kingdoms of Alure and the Illisian Empire.
Exports

The vast majority of their exports fall into two catergories:

  • Luxuries

The south coast of Salvas is reknowned for its fruit orchards and vinyards. Salvan fruits and wines are prized for their quality and are sold at a high price to many nobles across Calas

Similarly, Salvan textiles are among the finest in Calas, with only Asheki silk comprable in price and renown.

Because of the largely coastal nature of the kingdom, one of their primary exports is salt, which accounts for a large portion of sales for most merchants

  • Raw Materials

Salvas exports large quantities of wood from its eastern forests, mostly to neighboring Trombekia where it is crafted into various goods, and often sold back to the nobles of Salvas

Silver from the Sterling Mountains is the foremost raw export from Salvas, with demand from nearly all corners of Calas. The foremost importer of Salvan silver are the Undersea Kingdoms, who use it as their primary material for weapons and tools

Imports
  • Luxuries

Because of the kingdom's rich and varied natural resources, the majority of its imports are luxury goods.

Items such as pearls, corals, and abalone are all bought or traded for with the people of the undersea kingdoms. Crafted goods are generally imported from Trombekia or The Illisian Empire, with the most expensive coming from Ashek

There is also a large market for foods and spices, especially those grown in more tropical climates in the east. Spices from kingdoms like Ashek and Skoria are considered great luxuries. Within the coastal regions of the kingdom, Seafood caught in the deep waters of Alurian Territory, are coveted for their quality.

  • Materials

The raw materials Salvas imports are rare, usualy only being available in foriegn territories

Perhaps most unique of these is Stone Kelp, a variety of kelp only found in Alurian waters, it is comprable in strength to most metals, but is able to be broken down into fibers and woven to create rope or textiles that retain its strength.

They additionally import more mundane materials that the kingdom simply doesn't have a surplus of, such as bronze, cotton, and marble

Geography

The Kingdom of Salvas is split into several geographic regions:

The North Coast
The North Coast stretches from the north of the continent to the middle point of the country. The regions closest to the sea are sandy beaches and rocky cliffs, while the inland regions have rocky rolling hills and dense forest. This makes up most of the northern part of the kingdom.
The South Coast
The South Coast stretches from the bottom of the continent to the middle point of the country. The areas closest to the sea are large bodies of sand dunes, while the further inland has short ranges of hills and chaparral. This part of the coastline is a mix of long, wide beaches, small coves and bays, fjords, and rocky cliffs. The southern parts of the kingdom are the driest, warmest, and wettest.
The Lower Plains
The Lower Plains make up most of the central area of the kingdom, stretching from the edges of the coast in the West to the Sterling Mountain Range in the East. The lands here are flat and mostly grassy, with some forested areas. Several rivers cut through the region, creating a maze of waterways and lakes.
The Sterling Mountain Range
The Sterling mountain range runs along the eastern border of the kingdom. Here there are tall peaks and deep valleys. The lands at the mountain bases are covered with thick forests, making for difficult travel. The highest mountain in the kingdom is called The Silver Peak, from which the range derives its name.

Climate

The widespread kingdom has a varied climate that spans its many regions.
The Coast

The South Coast has a mostly tropical climate. It's hot most days, with usually clear skies . The ocean winds blow constantly, keeping temperatures from rising too high. The ocean waves are rough and unpredictable . Because of this constant wind, the South Coast also has more storms than anywhere else in the kingdom. Mild storms occur year round, but the worst occur during the rainy season.

The North Coast receives far less rain than the south due to the mountains that separate the two regions. But they still get plenty of rainfall. During the cold season and rainy season, the temperature is much colder than on the southern coast, though still capable of agricultural work.

Inland

Around the center of the kingdom the climate is temperate. There are heavy forests, grasslands, and open plains. Toward the eastern border of the kingdom, the climate becomes much cooler, getting cold enough that snow can be seen as early in the year as the harvest season.
